I went to my dr appt at 36 weeks thinking everything was fine and found out I had HELLP syndrome - was admitted to the hospital right away and the next day I was induced..... Had babe c section and then babe was transferred to the nicu at a bigger hospital ( that is 1.5 hours away from home ) We were there for 3 weeks. All without having my bag packed.... I'm 26 weeks now - will be packing my bag by 34 weeks
I'm going to start getting mine packed around the 32 week mark. It's just going to sit in the hall closet anyway. Then I can add things to it when I think of them.
As far as toilitries, I have lots of sample sizes from Birchbox and I'm just going to pack those.
I plan on packing mine at 30 weeks. Partly because I'm paranoid if not having it backed and going into labor early, partly because I'm too excited not to pack it and it will give me something to do since we aren't preparing a nursery. Go on pinterest. There are a million "what's in my hospital bag" lists.
I'm thinking I'll pack it in a couple weeks. The stuff I'm not using on a regular basis anyway. Having so many mamas going into the hospital early has put this on my to do list earlier than I probably would've started thinking about it.
I'll be 29 weeks on wed and I've started to get my bag ready. I'm a FTM so not sure what I'll be comfortable in so I've been looking around for like nursing tanks and comfortable slippers etc. Also I was going through my toiletries to see if I needed to rememeber to buy any small sizes on things. I figure it will take me a few weeks to get everything together so by the time I'm 34 weeks I'll have it actually packed.
I packed mine early last time I think around 30-32 weeks I'll probably do the same this time even though I live very close to the hospital. I like knowing I have one less thing to worry about if I go into labor early.
Not going near attempting to pack this hospital bag, until after my shower. So after 34 weeks, but knowing my tendency to procrastinate.. More like 37 or later, haha
I guess the earlier the better but if there are things you will need/want in there that you can't pack then write it on a list and put it in the bag until you are closer and can give up those things!
I packed with DS around 30 weeks, mainly things I didn't need/use everyday. Closer to my due date I put it my clothes and other items I used more often. I personally don't like situations I can't control (and labor/birth falls into that category), packing my bag helped me feel less anxious about what was to come!
Anything I didn't use daily was packed at around 38 weeks. I had a list of the other things I would need to grab like phone chargers etc, but I ended up with a planned induction date at 41 weeks instead.
Also, idk if you're planning on breastfeeding but if you are, I would highly recommend taking a nipple cream that isn't lanolin. I found it to be so sticky and awful, I sent BF back for the earth mama angel baby.
I packed an hour before I left for the hospital....
This was me at 37 weeks and we forgot the camera. We got lucky I had just bought a smartphone with a camera and it was in my purse. H had to go back out of the operation room to get it,but at least we had it. This time around, I am going to pack a bag or at least make a list next month 30-34 weeks.
I've started a packing list. In the next few weeks I plan to make a few purchases like slippers, nursing tanks, yoga pants and a post partum girdle. I'll probably start packing them as I get them, and be fully ready to go by 37 weeks.
I think I began packing mine when I went on leave at 36 weeks, just throwing a few things in here and there as I thought of them. My water broke a few days later so I'm glad I threw it together for the most part when I did. I'll probably start putting it together around 32 weeks this time just in case this babe follows in his big brother's footsteps in terms of when he arrives.
First time, I started packing around 36 weeks, finished the night before induction. Second time, I packed about 2 hours before heading into the hospital because I didn't believe I was in labor, and thought that I had all day to pack since I had a scheduled RCS. I also decided that I needed to iron all the clothing I brought, which was dumb and difficult to do while having contractions, crazy pregnancy brain...
I have already started packing and I am only 28 weeks but I figure I'll just add things as I think of them. I'd rather be prepared than scrambling to get stuff together last minute, since you never really know when the baby will come. I wouldn't say there is a specific week to start packing, just do whatever makes you feel prepared
As a FTM I packed and had everything ready at 32 weeks and continued to add or change things until week 37ish.
This time I will probably pack closer to 35 only because now I have to pack DS bag too as he will be staying with friends or grandparent, and I have a much better idea of what I want with me at the hospital.
DH is already making his list. Apparently he was not thrilled with his last minute choices and would like to be more prepared this time.
I started packing and I have lists pinned on Pinterest. I don't know when this baby is coming, so I want to be prepared. I was all packed last time by 35 weeks I think.
I will probably start soon for the same reasons as others have said. It's fun, I have nothing else to do baby wise because I am not doing a nursery and I like to be organized.
I usually pack 2 bags. One for labor & delivery and one for after birth. That way I don't have to have as much junk in the L&D room. We just keep the second one in the car.
I'll probably start packing in a few weeks; I hope to have everything ready by 35 weeks just in case. I've read a lot of blogs by other moms that give advice as to what to pack and I plan to ask my doc about what the hospital will supply vs. what I should bring. There seems to be a lot of variance surrounding what is provided by the hospitals.
I had a list and packed around 34 weeks last time with a few things left out for last minute addition. This time, I'm not nearly as worried about it. lol I may stash a book, a set of clothes for me and baby, phone charger, and try to remember to grab my own pillow when I leave. DH is on his own for snacks if he wants to throw some in there. Yup, pretty sure that's it.
I'll start getting things together around 30 weeks, last minute things can wait until labour actually starts. DS1 was a 31 weeker and DS2 was a 36 weeker so I want to make sure to be prepared.
I only had a bag packed ahead of time with the frst and ended up going past due date. My second came at 38w 6 d and I started packing when labor started. I knew i really did not need much this time around. The third caught us by surprise when I started labor at 36 weeks at work. I went home and had to get the carseat out of the attic and put it in the truck. I grabbed some stuff for my bag. Again not really needing much. I guess my list is always short:
Two pairs of nursing PJs Toiletries- toothbrush toothpaste, hairbrush camera phone outfit for new baby

You can have basics together whenever you want. I was still wearing stuff I needed.
Make a list so if you have to go to the hospital early or something you at least have a list to give to your husband or something.
