S/O kidless vacations...

And kidless nights in general. Now that a lot of LO's are sleeping in big kid beds, what are the sleeping arrangements when they stay with someone else? Last time DS stayed with my parents my poor 59 year old dad slept on the couch with him all night because they couldn't get him down alone. I'm thinking I'm going to try to find a local sitter to eventually trust in my house overnight, but for now I feel clueless!

  • Oooh this is interesting.  Right now DD is in the crib so she cribs it at both grandparents too.

The bed we have in mind for her once we switch is one of bunk beds that my brother had when we were little (we will save the convertible crib/toddler bed for baby #2) and both halves are at my parents' house.  I guess once we switch her we would just keep one bed at our house and one there until she was rock solid at bed sleeping.

Again this is a theory since I want to keep her in a crib until she is twenty seven.

  • I still put DS#1 in a PNP when we stay somewhere else. It's just easier than having to worry about whether a place is baby proof or not.

  • Air mattress might be a solution. DS is way too long for the pnp, he can't even stretch out fully. Looking forward to all of the responses on this one!

  • Sigh. I dread moving DD from her crib.
  • We use an air mattress at my parents'  house and were totally surprised at how well he took to it!

  • Our only sitters have been grandparents. And even though J still sleeps in a crib at night my IL's have a crib set up at their house and he has spent the night with them about 5 times now. So it works well! My Mom however does not have a crib so it would be difficult if he stayed with her, she would probably just sleep at our house.
