xp: latch system vs seat belt for car seat

hi,
I just read that they are starting to say that there is a weight limit for the latch system and car seats.
My son is 3 1/2 and 38 lbs.
has anyone made the switch to the seatbelt with their car seat?

    Your seat owner's manual should have the weight limit. We have the Graco Size4Me 70 and the weight limit is 48 lbs (child's weight), but it also says to check your car's manual for their weight limit, which could be lower.

    Yes over a year ago someone told me about it.  So I went to car seat check event and had them reinstall the carseat with the seatbelt instead of the latch.  I was told the weight limit is 25lbs.

    It depends on your car and your car seat. Some cars have some limits, some car seats have different limits. You have to go by the lower limit of the two. You could check out the Car Seats for the Littlest group in Facebook and ask them there. Just tell them your car make model year, car seat model and your kids stats and they can answer.

    But aside from all of that. Using the LATCH or the seat belt to install, they are both equally as safe as long as you install it correctly. Never use them together unless you car seat and car say you can (only a couple of those types exist.)

    I don't think that what they told you is correct. At first when they changed the limits they said "combined weight car seat + kid = 65 pounds" and that will vary for each car seat and kid. But I've seen them talk about it in the Car Seats for the Littles page that it varies from vehicle to car seat.
