Too tired to do anything!

I'm 6w1d and SO exhausted lately! I feel like I'm sleeping every chance I get. I completely cut out caffeine when I got my BFP, and I'd rather not start up again. Anyone else feeling this way? What do you do to help?

  • I'm feeling extra tired too. Trying my best to listen to my body and rest when I can.

  • 1st trimester exhaustion is the pits.  Making sure you are getting enough iron in your diet and staying hydrated can help.  I was anemic during my pregnancy with DS1 an it was terrible so I am super conscientious about making sure my iron levels are good.

  • I hear ya. I put my workout clothes on and sat on the couch and didn't want to move. Just doing the laundry and dishes wiped me out and I'm still having 1 cup of coffee in the am. I do know I haven't drank as much water today so I think that definitely had something to do with it. Just trying to listen to my body and rest when I can.

  • I'm still doing one soda a day...not a coffee drinker. I've been sick with a terrible sinus infection do between that and being pregnant my house is totally trashed and I feel like I'll never get caught up again!

  • I feel the same way so tired and no energy to do anything:( I'm hoping to try to have a better week this week ... I've heard the 1st trimester is when you feel the most tired. I'm almost 6 weeks so I have a long while... I am hungry but don't like anything I have to eat so water is helping... What else is everyone else doing to get through the day?
  • Yes, this is completely normal. I don't think it went away at all for me last time.

  • I have the double whammy exhaustion and insomnia. I am a total zombie; and tomorrow is back to school! I don't know how I'm going to survive. it feels too hard just lacing up my shoes!

This is my life. I started tearing up this morning as I was lacing up my shoes thinking seriously, how am I going to teach today if I can't motivate myself enough to put on shoes!
  • This has been me exactly! The extreme fatigue, insomnia, hormonal cries BC it just seems overwhelming, not wanting anything to eat and still going to work and trying to function.

One meal at a time. One day at a time.
  • I'd say exhaustion is my #1 symptom, by far. How do I cope?

    1. Nap and sleep in as much as possible on the weekends.
    2. Go to bed as early as possible. This means I get to go to bed like an old lady - about 9:30pm (I wake up at 6am).
    3. Once in a while, I take a nap while dinner is cooking during the week. Just a 20-minute or so power nap.

  • Me too! When I get home from work, I barely feel like I can even cook dinner. I have been trying to plan meals and cook on the weekends, but I feel so tired that I'm having a hard time... all I want to do is eat and sleep, very frustrating!
  • Same here!  It's made me really think about how to plan things where most of the work is on the kids, not me.
  • I'm 7w2d and insanely exhausted! Even going grocery shopping wears me out! I've never been a napper, but I've been taking naps on the weekend and going to bed at 8:30-9:30 p.m. during the week since I have to wake up at 5:30 a.m. Going to work and acting like everything is normal has been rough, especially when I almost fall asleep at my desk multiple times a day!
  • I'm 6w6d and completely exhausted. I've given up trying to do anything past 7pm and watching any TV after 8:30. I've been trying to stick to a 9:30 bedtime during the week and bringing work home with me so I can nap before tackling grading/IEP writing.

  • I hit a brick wall around 3pm every day. I now schedule all my meetings for the afternoon to stay up.
  • I am utterly exhausted. Doesn't help that my 17 month old still doesn't sleep through the night and likes to start her day early. :( I could take a nap everyday but that is rare.
  • Vmcarbone... I am a special education teacher too!
  • I am literally barely functioning. I had to lean on my sink just to do my dishes then I fell asleep on the couch for 3 hours. My house is a mess the only thing I'm managing to get done is laundry & the occasional light cleaning. I haven't cooked in a month. Thankfully I have a very supportive SO & he has been picking up the slack. I can't even get motivated to get dressed on my days off. Patiently waiting for 2nd trimester!
  • I'm in the same boat.... Just walking upstairs to use the bathroom (which may I add I do about every 15 minutes) exhausts me. My house is a mess also. I find I make my way down in the basement get a load in the washer, make ny way upstairs, fall asleep for 3 hours, wake up, go down in the basement, get the load in the dryer then sleep for another 3 hours... It takes FOREVER to get anything done. I'm really hoping what people say (that you get your energy back in the 2nd tri) is true.
  • I literally can't even move sometimes, I am that exhausted. Getting up and actually doing things is a great accomplishment lately. I hope I get my energy back soon!
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I feel so incredibly lazy! I work 8 hours then I just want to go home and lay down. I feel terrible that DH is pretty much doing every single thing around the house, but it's just miserable! How do people even think about working out in the first trimester?? Ugh! I'm really excited for this second trimester energy burst I keep hearing about!

I'm with you! I feel like walking up the stairs at home is a workout in and of itself! I've started taking the elevator at work to go up one flight of stairs ... I hate to be that person, but my laptop suddenly weighs a ton and I'm out of breath halfway up the stairs! So sad.
  • Yes! Add me in there too. On Saturday after eating breakfast I needed a nap ... which lasted almost all day long. Ate dinner, napped again, then went to bed! Eating slash digesting is about as much energy as I can muster these days.
  • I feel the same way! Thought something was very wrong when I felt exhausted getting out of the bath tub!
  • I feel the same way. Got in bed at 6pm because I was too tired to do anything and now I can't sleep...
  • Omg. I'm exhausted but I don't know if it's BC I'm nauseous and feel like throwing up constantly or what. I dread being awake bc I know if I'm awake I am going to be sick. Not to the point of throwing up but on the edge... I'm 7.5 weeks. First dr visit is tomorrow!

  • I am so thankful for finding this post. I'm 5w5d and can't get over how exhausted I am. I thought it was just lack of sleep as in week 4 I had leg twitches that lasted alllllll night so Id be lucky to get half hour sleep a night. This went for a week, so thought maybe I'm still tired from that.
Only work 5 hrs a day and feel totally wrecked after. I have to actually push myself to do the day to day chores like cooking and tidying up.
Don't feel sick at all, eating fine. Just soooooooo tired!!!!!

Aaah! hahaha, I have started using the elevator at work for one flight of stairs too! I feel like people are looking at me, like "Why is she using the elevator? Her hands aren't full and she isn't pushing a cart or anything..." (I'm a librarian). My DH says he understands, but I still wish he could read all of these posts so he can truly see that I'm not trying to milk it. It really is normal to be exhausted 24/7!

  • I keep apologizing to my SO for being so tired. I don't usually get home from work until almost 9 and it is all I can do to eat something before I pass out. Usually not an issue for me since I'm a total night owl. I feel so awful cause I really need to catch up on laundry and the kitchen needs cleaned but I just don't have the energy to manage it. I should ask for help but I feel so guilty already!
  • I am the same way.V8 juice helps me feel better. Just need my bed and t.v. and it's an Okay night. But sometimes it's all I can do to get much boys ready for school. Morning is the worst.
  • I work 5 - 6 hour days and today I felt like a zombie waking up at 8:30 after 9 h
hours of sleep! And when I had a 30 minute break I passed out cold on the couch... I can't wait to get home and sleep some more and I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow!! Super excited about having Monday off so I can continue sleeping. .. this is my life now. ..

Sooo exhausted at 8 weeks!!! Been this way for a few weeks now and not letting up. Plus, I have insomnia and only get a few hours sleep. Taking magnesium to try and regulate my night sleep, but 2 pm is when it all hits me at work! Definitely scheduling afternoon meetings so I can stay awake! I'm working out 3 days a week, but even that is exhausting me and I used to do 5 days. Crazy town!!! :) I just keep reminding myself - it's all for a GREAT cause!!! ;)
  • This is my second pregnancy and I don't remember being this tired the first time. Of course I have a 2 yo now as well. I want to sleep all day! I hope it passes in the second trimester. 7 wks now.
  • I feel the pain! I am extremely exhausted all of the time and just uncomfortable. I've been chugging down sprites and ginger ale to help with nausea sigh just praying the 2nd trimester is better
  • I'm at 6 weeks and I feel terrible. So tired. Last week I felt energetic and great. Now I feel sick in the morning and afternoon. I ran 30miles last week and this week only 3! I can't make it to 6pm without napping and feeling sick. Everything annoys me, including my sweet husband. Newspaper smell made me even worse. I feel like I'm dying. I'm never getting pregnant again because I feel that bad.
  • I am literally so tried it's hard to hold up my phone and type as I lay here watching The Business of Being Born. Every day all day it feels like the day before I ran a marathon, had finals, partied all night. I can't even.
  • I stopped doing extra after school tutoring (HS chem teacher here). I get home and I veg/nap. I go to bed early. Between 7 am and 7 pm I do pretty good for myself so long as I can eat and use the toilet.
    *Siggy Warning*
