Trying to Get Pregnant

Over the counter Prenatal vitamins

Hi eveyone,

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for the last 6mnths. I have been having some issues with vitamins though. My OBGYN gave me several different prescription vitamins to try but most of them made me sick. Would any of you know something natural and over the counter I could try instead? Also, has anyone taken anything to help with getting pregnant?

Thank you so much!

Re: Over the counter Prenatal vitamins

  • I use gummies...they're the only kind that don't make me sick.

  • I take mine at night right before bed and I haven't had a problem. I know a lot of ladies on here who take the gummies though, they might be softer on your stomach.

Do they have iron in them? A lot of times iron can cause nausea, especially if you're taking them on an empty stomach. Try taking them in the afternoon or evening as others have said.

  • Thank you ladies! I did try taking them at night but the real issue wasn't my stomach but rather my head. I have severe migraines and they were making them worse.

I'll have to try the gummies! I looked at them at CVS and wasn't sure. Thank you so much for your help
  • Vitamins don't get you pregnant.

I take Target brand with a DHA supplement.

  • The only thing I take to help me get pregnant is my basal body temperature. Knowing about your cycles is invaluable. Take a look at the newbie link up top :)

  • For PNV I use Nature Made and take them after dinner.
  • I take Costco's own brand 'Kirkland' prenatal vitamins. I'm in Canada and I'm pretty sure its about 300 pills for around $9. They don't make me nauseous like other ones did and I take them right before I go to bed.

  • +1 for vita fusion gummies
  • I take the gummy ones as well. I also take them later in the day so I don't end up with a stomach ache.

  • I'm in Canada, but I take the Sobeys brand. Fun fact if you register at the Sobeys pharmacy you get two years of PNV for free.
  • I use Nature Made because they are inexpensive at BJ's for a lot. I have to take them right after I eat breakfast or I get nauseous.

  • I take mine after dinner too.  I buy the cvs brand with DHA.  I read somewhere that the gummies weren't the best because the process of making them breaks down some of the nutrients.  Has a doctor told anyone that before?

I use Rainbow Light One.  I took it at night for the first week to get my body acclimated then I switched to mornings.  I usually take it on an empty stomach and it hasn't been an issue.  It has some extra plant-based ingredients that you might like too.  They sell it at a few drug stores, but I found it is cheaper online.

I can't take the gummy vitamins because they are yummy and I would probably overdose.

  • I use Nature Made as well. I take them midday because I take other medication in the morning. They are big pills so if you can find something else I would.
My SIL has trouble swallowing pills so she actually took children's gummie multivitamins. I think she just did a double dose. Don't quote me on that though.
