  • Lucky you! I have the hardest time drinking water...or anything else. Even outside of pregnancy, I'm not a big fluid drinker. I can go nearly all day without realizing that I haven't had anything to drink. Now that I'm pregnant, I have to the keep a glass of water on hand at all times to contantly remind myself to drink!! l
    So drink up!! =D

You can-- but you'd have to really really try & eat nothing. As long as you are eating appropriate calories then your salt balance etc. should be fine.

Better "too much" water than too little. Flushes your system & keeps you hydrated.

Yeah, 2 L in less than 5 minutes might not be healthy, but typically the only people who die of water poisoning are those that are involved in some kind of chugging contest.

You CAN drink too much, but you are no where near that amount...and you usually have to have a rare medical condition that caused a dilution of the salt in your blood which can cause problems, but I wouldn't worry about it.

  • No. I was agreeing with you on how hard I find it to drink water (I have to constantly think about it, also while not pregnant) and was just adding the additional thought for the Original poster.

  • Ah. I thought you were correcting something said in my post. I was like, "I don't recall telling the OP to drink until she grew gills". Lol Just that I almost wish worrying about drinking too much water was a concern of my own. Ha.

  • I wish I could force myself to drink more water!  I've been working on drinking a little more every day... sometimes with success and sometimes without... also drinking more juices and such with flavor... I just get so bored with plain old water!  However, I worry that I'm not drinking enough :-(   Good for you to be drinking so much!  Keep it up!

  • OP. I was thinking about this as I was trying to figure out how much more water I needed to drink today to reach my quota and had a thought...are you drinking that much because you should be drinking a lot of water while pregnant or is it due to excessive thirst?

Excessive thirst CAN be a sign of diabetes, so if you are experiencing excessive thirst you may want to mention it to your doctor. It looks like you are getting close to your glucose test anyway, but could be worth a mention. I'm not a doctor, but a lot of people in my family are diabetic and I had GD last time, so I just wanted to point it out, so you can address it if need be.

  • I agree with the above. Excessive thirst could be a sign of diabetes. I was diagnosed last year with Type 1 diabetes and that was a major symptom!

I wish I could drink that much water! Thr water in my apartment tastes horrible!
  • mamayo26  - Excellent observation. That didn't even cross my mind.

Side note: Love your SN. My maiden name was Mayo. =)
