Skin Care Routine

I have been blessed with good skin and have always been able to get away with a basic drug store face wash and moisturizer...usually some version of Neutrogena. Maybe a little St. Ives scrub now and then. BC kept all acne away. Now I feel like my skin is dull, dry, and more prone to breakouts. Anyone have any products they would recommend?? I don't want to break the bank, but I am also willing to spend more than drug store prices if I could get something that would work really well!

ETA: bonus if it is something I could order on Amazon or purchase at Sephora.

Re: Skin Care Routine

  • I have been using Proactiv Plus. Probably not the best thing but it has cleared my skin up immensely. Now, I only breakout during what I assume is my time of the month.

  • I am like you and only need a simple skin care solution. I have tried the basics from sephora like their makeup remover and face masks. If I want to spend a little extra money I buy Clinique stuff which they sell at sephora.

  • For a cleanser, I use the Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash and the Elemis Skin Buff as an exfoliator.

I'm not even going to tell you about the moisturizers, eye creams, and serums I use, because my bank account wishes I didn't know about them either.
I'm being featured in a new pregnancy/motherhood blog during the month of October, so if you ever wanted to know more about my pregnancy, birth, and motherhood experiences than anyone ever should, check out my posts in the link below! :)

  • I use aveeno "positively radiant scrub" it's gentle enough for daily use but has enough to prevent break outs. On the occasion I do get a pimple I have liked Murad's acne spot treatment sold at sephora (it's a small bottle but has lasted months), lotion I also use aveeno :)

  • I've been trying to use more natural beauty products, but I haven't messed with my facial skin care yet since it has been serving me well since high school/college.  I use Clinique's bar soap (used to use the anti-acne, but now I just go with the mild).  I dislike Clinique's lotions though and go for Oil of Olay Complete All Day... definitely not greasy but thick enough that it actually moisturizes my skin.

  • I have always had really crappy skin and have tried pretty much everything. Now I only use a Norwex body cloth to wash my face, no cleanser or soap or anything else, just the cloth. I rarely have breakouts anymore and my skin feels so much smoother. Plus I just don't have the time for a long routine every day.

  • I have awful skin! I can never get it balances, either I'm dry and peeling, or a complete oil slick. The only product that ice ever used that controls the shine and dry is Mary Kay's Time Wise combination skin line.

I usually look like a teenager and have tried everything for my skin (even accutane didn't work when I was in high school). I have had success with arbonne re-9, but you have to find someone to sell it. My hair dresser told me to use coconut oil as my moisturizer and to take a shot of raw vinegar to help my skin. I'd consider it, but I'm BFing so I don't think LO would like it.

I might try what @cdseno‌ uses though! That sounds perfect to not strip my skin so much!
  • Spendy but can be found at Sephora I highly recommend Dermalogica products. My dermatologist actually recommended it.
My other suggestion is plain old witch hazel as a toner/moisturizer. I like the cucumber scented ones :-) No alcohol, no nonsense and cheap!

I use the same aveeno face wash and really like it. I've also started using DDs aveeno baby lotion as moisturizer and I haven't had any problems. My face is usually very oily with a few occasional dry days. I used to use nothing but Neutrogena bc that's what I used all through high school but I'm finally getting brave enough to try new things. I just started using bare minerals make up and so far I like it.
  • @Eena1242‌ I'm relieved to find someone else that accutane didn't work for. I tried two rounds of it in high school and it was useless for me. My acne was terrible and I have so many scars from it.
  • @amj1053‌ I use bare minerals too, going on 3 years now. My face is oily and I love how the make up stays on and covers just enough.

  • I've always struggled with breakouts, oil and dryness. Until I switched to JanMarini products. I use the bioglycolic cleanser and salicylic lotion. It's pretty pricy, but totally worth it for me. The way it works it pulls all of the crap out your skin, so initially your skin may get worse, but then it's sooo much better.
  • We use Body Shop's Tea Tree line. I have oily, sensitive skin. I break out so easily and this keeps things under control.
  • Mary Kay's acne line works wonders!!!

Yeah I'm really liking the coverage and that you don't have to use a lot.
