Pregnant after 35

Is this normal?

Hi all, I'm 36 and have finally got pregnant after a long long time. I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and so excited but scared! I obviously missed my period, have slight tummy cramps and a lot of wind (which is unusual for me) but other than that I feel fine. No sore boobs, no tiredness and no nausea which are all things I feel like I should be experiencing. The fact I feel so good makes me nervous. Am I normal ladies..please help! Xx

Re: Is this normal?

  • I think everyone is slightly different in regards to symptoms. I honestly don't feel much of anything at 6 weeks. I don't start feeling nauseous until 7-8 weeks. I never had sore boobs with my previous pregnancies but I do now. Everyone's different. I wouldn't worry too much about symptoms.

    Congrats!

  • The gas is, sadly, very normal! My main symptoms in the first trimester were gastrointestinal, combined with fatigue, which I also thought at the time was related to the gastro stuff. Eventually, after a night of particularly painful gas and days of constipation (sorry for the graphic details...) I gave in and bought Gas-X and Colace. I haven't had to use Gas-X very much but take Colace twice a week and it really helps.

So my advice is: don't suffer needlessly if any of the symptoms become bothersome; check with your OB and get help.

    And congratulations and welcome!
  • As PPs said, everyone is different, but what you're experiencing sounds normal to me.  I did not have any symptoms early on, and I never had any nausea at all.  Have you called your OB to make an appointment?  I know that once I had my first appointment, and my doctor answered all of my questions, I felt much more at ease.  Congratulations and best wishes to you!

  • I feel like you read my mind and just posted first!

I have had very few symptoms (I am 9+ weeks). I feel mildly hungover sometimes and my cramping has been very tolerable. My chest hurts and is swollen and my water intake (and nightly output, FML) is high.

Enough about me... Just know that your symptoms, needs and moods will change from day to day and sometimes minute to minute. Welcome them and know that it is what your body is supposed to do.

    Congratulations!

  • My symptoms didn't kick in until between 7 & 8 weeks. Then it was light I was hit by a freight train. So it is perfectly normal to not feel much of anything yet. Congrats & welcome!

  • Congratulations and welcome :)  Aside from twinges, my symptoms didn't start till 8-9 weeks.
  • Welcome and congratulations!! I just posted about this the other day. I've suffered several losses and I was driving myself crazy thinking I should have symptoms by now. I am 6wks today and really all I'm feeling is tired and hormonal. But I had an early ultrasound at 5wks 1 day and it showed a viable pregnancy so I'm trying to relax and remember that every pregnancy is different. You will feel much more confident after you see your dr and have the chance to see your little bean. Oh and the gastro stuff...ya, that's happened with all of my pregnancies. Try to address any constipation before it gets horrendous or you will be fighting a really tough battle.

  • Congratulations and welcome! Everyone's symptoms are different and yours are still within the normal scope of things. Mine were too, but on the opposite end of the spectrum. I was puking before I even got my BFP!
