Re: Sunday night's a slow surrender (randoms)

  • Still sick. It woke me up. E ended up in our bed *again*. There is no room! And it is a habit that needs to die fast! And, damn, can't a sick pregnant lady just get some sleep?? I felt like I hadn't felt Pip all night so I got up to use the Doppler and am now just laying on the couch because going back to my squished bed to bemoan my stomach pains seems pointless. I've since felt Pip a few times, so that's good. Today better be the end of this stomach thing! Ughhhhh.

  • @DragonflyDreaming‌ worry not! We had a detailed discussion about appropriate room entry practice.
In the meantime, revisiting 1963 in Manhattan! Silver lining?
I've always wanted to do a colour run. They look super fun.
  • @krystaloowho‌ I am so sorry. I hope you can find some comfort in the fact that you got to spoil him and spend time with him. It sounds like you have given him a great life. I'll be thinking of you today.

  • @krystaloowho‌ aw man, I'm so sorry about Loki!! :(
  • @krystaloowho‌ so sorry about Loki. And yes, this isn't the way you should have to spend your bday. Brighter days are coming soon!

My random is that I have a house full of guests and I have no energy to entertain. Normally I go totally overboard cooking feasts for family but yesterday all I could muster for dinner were quesadillas and they weren't even that good. I could tell my brother was a little disappointed... I think its because after my mom passed, I became the woman in the family who fed everyone like she used to. But alas, can't give too much of a shit. I am cooking a baby.

  • @FrecklesInside‌ I do that all the time. If I don't feel him I Doppler him. He hates it and moves away, but I don't care. Lol.
@CoozieInMyPurse‌ I think I've hit that's mode too. I spent two hours the other night just looking through the baby's clothes and taking tags off and picking out hospital outfits and such. I know it's way too early for that but I can't help it. I wait till H goes to bed so he doesn't make fun of me. :)

Eta.. I have 4 glorious days off ahead of me and it's nuts at work. I know they're gonna call me every day to come in and help but I've already planned to use the pregnancy card and stay home to rest. It's about time I slow down a bit dang it

Yes @nannabee21‌ slow down! (With the extra work thing I mean). And do you have a coming home outfit picked out? I haven't even looked. My mom bought me some layette thing that is referred to as a coming home outfit, and she didn't buy it with the intention of "I want you to put this on her when you leave" but it got me thinking I have no clue what to use!!
  • @krystaloowho‌ I am so sorry about Loki :( hugs honey. Dogs are such a part of the family. Celebrate your birthday when you feel up to it.

Ive decided to buy some nursing tanks from Old Navy since they are loved all across the board. But I have a question about sizing. With regular Old Navy shirts I would wear a medium and it fit snug. When I started shopping I was surprised to find out that the small maternity shirts were all baggy on me. So my quesrion is- are the nursing tanks sized more like their regular clothes or maternity?

Eta im ordering online since my old navy doesnt actually have a decent maternity section. So im really hoping to avoid dealing with returns/exchanges.
  • @krystaloowho‌, I am so sorry about Loki. My dog is my first baby and my heart aches for you and your SO. Sending you hugs.
  • @krystaloowho‌ I'm very sorry to hear about Loki, and especially on your bday. Lots of hugs to you :disappointed:
  • @krystaloowho‌ sorry about your pup :(

@FrecklesInside‌ hope you feel better soon.

@ruemorgan‌ I have a few nursing tanks from there. I found that the sizing is pretty true to Old Navy. I usually wear a small but got a medium and was glad cause my boobs were huge after my milk came in and I don't like wearing really tight things. I think you'd be good with your regular size that you normally get.

  • I went to bed last night with horrible pain between my inner thighs. I kept tossing and turning all night, it hurt so bad. I woke up this morning and it still hurts but not as bad. It hurts when I walk, I'm definitely waddling now =(
  • @FrecklesInside‌ aw I'm sorry you're sick, I hope you start to feel better soon!

@krystaloowho‌ I'm so sorry about Loki. I know its a sad day but happy birthday!

@lawsonellis‌ congrats on your engagement and the new SUV! I'm sorry to hear you're feeling bad, hope you feel better soon!

This weekend was better than I expected it to be. I'm doing my Air Force reserve weekend and I'm actually having a good time as opposed to the constant miserable in the past months.

Goodness, Nights are becoming more and more sleepless as the weeks pass. I've even been having dreams of taking care of my baby and feeling horribly exhausted.

Random weirdness: this may be TMI but I have to share lol. So the other day I was extremely constipated but managed to let one HUGE log out. It was so painful I almost second guessed my ability to push a little human out medication free. I'll be damned if I give up on my plan to give birth without meds because of a painful bowl movement but Damn, that shit had me crippled. tis all, I feel like I just rambled on about nothingness.

I had this happen to me a couple weeks ago, it was traumarizing and horrible! I didn't think I could push something so but out my but!

  • @aylaroman15‌ @lisap0924‌ I can join the birth to a butt baby club. Holy Moses I hate those! Fear not that pain hurts and so does birthing a baby, but a baby is different I promise!

I feel like while it will hurt-birthing a baby is natural and suppose to happen.
Birthing from my butt is NOT natural and just not right lol

  • @FrecklesInside‌ just a little PSA, be careful relying on the Doppler. My Dr & March of dimes don't recommend using them because it may cause someone to ignore fetal distress. When the baby isn't kicking as much as she should, there could be something wrong. If you listen to the heartbeat to feel better, you may not pay attention to the kicks anymore, and could ignore distress. If there isn't a heartbeat it's to late, so you want to catch distress with the kicks.

I'm not saying you are ignoring kick counts, sometimes they sleep and you just want to know they are okay!! I just wanted you to be aware of potential issues with relying on Doppler of you weren't already.
  • We are taking Loki to the vet to pass today. It's 6:30am and he has heavy panted and wet weezed all day yesterday and all night. He's refusing to move around the last 24 hours and won't indulge in his favorite treats like pop corn. His downturn has been fast and vicious and he is miserable. Oh did I mention its my fucking birthday? SO wanted to wait till tomorrow. But he had a horrible night and we had a horrible night. I will spend most the day home crying most likely.
Im so sorry about Loki. :(  **hugs**

  • @krystaloowho‌- soooo sorry to hear about Loki. My thoughts are with you:(

I'm with all you ladies and the insomnia, ugh what a drag! So I'm a bit irritated this morning and trying to prep my meals for the week ahead. I reach in the cabinet and pull out the chix broth, only to open it an notice it has already been opened. Fail! Guess I'll be taking another trip to the grocery store (went yesterday morning).
  • @krystaloowho‌ - so sorry about Loki! Hope you can focus on the good life you gave him and enjoy a bit of your birthday, even if any celebration has to be postponed a few days.

  • @krystaloowho‌ I'm so sorry for Loki passing. I'm glad that you are able to provide him this comfort. Pets passing is one of the toughest situations to go through. I hope that you were able to stay with him at the vets. I always find that too hard, but the animals really appreciate it, and it's so peaceful. (And Happy Birthday (hugs) -- eat LOTS of cake)

@djoliet‌ For the pain between your thighs, did you try sleeping with a pillow between your legs? This really helps me with overall alignment and hip pain. I imagine it could help with the inner thighs as well!

    @etoille‌ @luckystarz‌ Feel better soon!

@katydid2014‌ I can't wait to hear your husband's response to the maternity shoot timing! :)
  • So, i apparently missed seeing David Beckham last night (at the tennis match). We decided to not go to the tennis finals (we had tickets through my husband's work) yesterday, since we were both stressing about things we needed to get done. Well, we ended up only getting through grocery shopping and missed our shot to see Beckham!

(The extent of famous people I've met/seen in my lifetime, is Bruce Campbell ... plus, I had a major crush on Beckham, way back in the day!)
  • @lawsonellis‌ So pretty! He picked that out then? Or you had it made? :D
  • @lawsonellis‌ Your ring is beautiful!
  • @lisap0924‌ @Chunkymonkeylvr‌ I glad I'm not the only one that gave birth to a poop baby and that birthing a baby is different. Oh god I know it's gonna be more painful but purposeful!

@etoille‌ aw I hope you start to feel better!

@lawsonellis‌ that ring is freaking beautiful!

  • So, in light of the 3D/4D ultrasound thread that in no way invited others to share or participate in conversation-

Am I the only one not doing one?

What are the pros and cons? Why or why aren't you choosing to do one?

I'm not, simply because 1) extra money and effort and 2) unfortunately/fortunately I've had to see a specialist frequently during this pregnancy so I get pretty frequent u/a already and he always does a 3d face pic for me just because.

Am I the only one not doing one?

My ob here was doing one at every appt (so I'd had 3-4). At my appt last Monday, I finally told him that I was no longer interested in getting ultrasounds done. He tried to figure out why and kept going on about how safe they were. After a while, he figured out I wouldn't budge (I have a perfectly normal/no issue pregnancy; baby about 50% in size on everything, etc), he finally told his assistants to just use the heart monitor (to check babies heartbeat). While I was lying there (not really paying attention, addmittedly, one of his assistants/students pulls out the ultrasound wand (the machine is always by the bed) and starts having a go. I literally shoved her hand off of me. She was very confused. I told her I did not want the ultrasound. The doctor told her to just use the heart beat monitor. She had no idea how to use it!! Then, it didn't even have a charge! So, the doctor pulls out a stethoscope and checks and yep, all is well. My husband was there and was laughing about it later.

But seriously ... a student doctor that doesn't know how to use a fetal heart doppler ... is that the future??

*I did not want to get ultrasounds (Particularly the 3D/4D) because I just do not see a need for them. And my own personal feelings of wanting as low intervention as I can handle. Even though the FDA 'approves' the 3D/4D, it's not something I felt comfortable with on a weekly basis.
