So my SIL gave birth to their first child on 1/7/15 and BIL gave her a $1,700 diamond bracelet after delivery. She says it's her "push gift." Never heard of that before. Apparently you're supposed to be given expensive gifts for pushing a human through your vag or delivering one by C-section. Is it just me or is this completely ridiculous? And is this something new or has this always been around?
Re: push gift?
I never heard of one until this week. I think they are ridiculous and take away attention from your sweet baby. It also seems like a rich people thing as the ones I read about when looking into it all seemed super expensive. Of course I could be wrong, but that was the impression I got. Personally I would never expect anything like that and huge gifts like diamonds or cars aren't my style anyway. Plus I want people gushing about the baby I grew and pushed out, not the bracelet I got.
I think it's a bit crazy to demand expensive gifts as a reward for having a baby, but that's just my opinion!

But really I've never gotten a push present and I would never expect one. Although I am requesting an edible arrangements when I deliver this time. Lol.
I'm not sure where you live in NE, but there are two in MA and one that I know of in Nashua, nh (and CT that @redneckmomma25 mentioned)

Now that's my type of push gift. Or the steak @ally3242 . Perhaps BF can rub my feet while I eat steak.... Is that expecting too much? Probably.

My dad gave my mom something after each of us was born (three kids)- for me, it was a gold watch because it was also their 10 year anniversary and I arrived after the very last round of IVF and 5+ years of trying to conceive (fun fact: I was the first IVF baby born in my home county.) They felt it was certainly a time to celebrate!
