Trouble TTC

Ovidrel- Immediate Cramps?

Hi guys, I don't know anyone else in my position personally, so am turning to my 3T peers. I had 1 follicle big enough this morning, so I got the Ovidrel shot. Within the hour I started having cramps, and I'm still cramping. Does this sound familiar? Doctor said try tonight and tomorrow, and my husband is currently at work. Could I be ovulating already?

Ovulation tends to occur 24 to 36 hours after trigger. I always felt all kinds of cramping and twinges on medicated cycles. It's hard to tell what's going on

    4 Losses (2003, 2008, Apr 2012, & Oct 2012)
All RPL and IF testing with multiple REs = normal

    5 IUIs = BFN

  • Ovulation typically occurs 24-36 hours after an hcg trigger, such as Ovidrel. I suppose it may be possible that your body decided to ovulate naturally before the trigger kicked in. I felt some twinges starting about 24 hours after I triggered.
    Me & DH: Both 30 / Married 3 years / TTC since 10/2013
    Dx: Annovulatory
    8/2014: Clomid (50 & 100) + TI = BFN
    10/2014: Clomid (100 & 150) + TI = BFN
    12/2014: Follistim/Ovidrel/Endometrin + TI = BFN
    1/2015: Follistim/Ovidrel/Endometrin + IUI
  • I get cramping around my ovaries starting a few hours after the ovidrel shot, and I have them the entire next day and most of the day after that. From ultrasounds at my IUI appointments, I know that I don't ovulate until at least 36 hours after trigger... So the cramping doesn't necessarily indicate ovulation (for me at least), but is just a side effect of the follicles swelling and beginning to rupture. If you are concerned you can try temping to confirm O, or ask for a monitoring ultrasound 36 hrs after trigger to see where you're at.
