Do you ladies have experience with these two car seats? Which one would you recommend? Both are of good discounts right now. I need to buy one. Thanks!
Is the RXT on sale? We have the Radian RXT and it is a great seat. It is heavy but we love it. It doesn't take up as much room, we can rear face longer then most other seats, lower profile makes it easier to get baby in and out. We didn't get this seat till my DD#1 was almost 2yrs so no experience with babies in it. She is still rear facing at 41inches and 36 lbs.
Dionos are hit or miss with newborns for fit. Is this for your new baby to be? Is there a reason you're focused on a Diono?
No particular reason. I am looking for a highly rated convertible car seat that is not too expensive and that can be used for a long long time. These Diono car seats meet my $$ requirement since they are on sale, but not sure which one is a better fit for my new baby-to-be.
(I'm a car seat technician) There are no safety ratings for car seats - they all passed the pass/fail testing. I really wouldn't recommend a Diono for a newborn one because of the potential for a poor fit of the child and two, you can't use the angle adjuster until they're sitting independently and that means you need to have a very large vehicle or the ability to take the front passenger seat completely out of commission.
If you'd like to PM me, I'd be more than happy to talk with you more about choosing a seat that will work well for your situation
My friend has a diono and we both hate it. It's super heavy and a lot of different things you can adjust and whatnot. I've also heard from her and others that it can be a pain to install, though once in it's rock solid. It could definitely do 3 across easily but IMO just didn't live up to the hype.
All car seats must pass the same safety tests/standards. I highly recommend checking out seats in person and trying them in your car before purchasing (babies r us let's you do this).
I have the R100 for my two year old. She ff and it's awesome. I used a friends to try it rf for my six month old and it was awful. He didn't fit very well (and he's big for his age), the angle was awful and left no leg room for a passenger, and it was hard to adjust the straps rf.
