Best stroller for rough terrain

Does anyone have any experience with the stroller that works great on rough terrain? We live on a farm and also close to the river so I am looking for something that works great on trails, fields and gravel roads. It will probably never be used on pavement. My husband and I are outdoors most of the time and walk/jog almost daily to the river which is a mile one way and a trail through the woods with one big hill. I've looked at the BOB revolution jogging strollers and they seem to be at the top as far as ratings, just wondering if anyone has personal experience with this stroller or a different one that works well on rough terrain. Thanks!

Re: Best stroller for rough terrain

  • I would reccomend a jogging stroller. We had a Graco that held up for a year 1/2 on cobblestone paths, beaches, and uneven sidewalks but we are having issues with a wheel now so I will be replacing it with a BOB Revolution in the spring.

  • Jeep jogging stroller.
  • I have a mountain buggy and I love it! I chose it over the bob because I am tall ish and I wanted an adjustable handlebar.

  • I think the tires are going to be the most important thing - make sure you get foam-filled or at least non-pneumatic so you don't have to worry too much about the terrain.  From there it's up to you.  You'll probably get lots of recs for the BOB because it's very popular, but my husband had a lot of issues with it when we test drove strollers so we ended up with the Baby Jogger City Elite.  It's not a jogging stroller - the brand is Baby Jogger.  But it's really great for terrain due to the tires (foam filled and variable front tire).  And it's lightweight.

I used it on trails, at the beach, non-sidewalked streets, etc.  And it's holding up fine after 3 years.

  • The bigger the wheels are better and avoid plastic, you want something that will have some give.

  • I like my Phil and Teds Navigator. It's a bit smaller than the BOB but works really great on grass, gravel, dirt. I use it at my parents dairy farm all the time. And you can by the Second seat conversion kit if you end up having a second LO anytime soon!

  • I've loved the Bob when taking my friends kids on walks/hikes/to the pumpkin patch for Halloween. Works great on rough terrain!

  • I'm also a fan of the BOB. We go camping a lot in the summer and it's been great over trails with a lot of rocks and roots.  I'm going to be sad to give it up for another brand double stroller... the BOB one won't fit in my car. :(

  • I loved our mountain buggy. We live on a farm, and it was great. But I don't need a double anymore, time for a trade in!
  • LOVE my BOB revolution, which I got with DS. It was my fav baby thing. We use it for hiking trails, grassy areas etc.
