Throwback

I'm sitting here in bed watching one of my favorite Disney movies, The Lion King! It got me thinking that when this baby is born, I definitely want to show the true magic of Disney from back in the 90s.

So what about you? What was your favorite Disney movie?

  • I love Disney! I sing Disney songs and drive my husband and stepson crazy. Lion King is forever my favourite, but I love the classics too; Bambi, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Snow White.

We're team green so I don't know what we're having. Can't wait to share Disney with my babe!

  • I'd say my absolute favorite would be The Little Mermaid, but I don't think my future son would enjoy that one too much haha.

  • The early Disney movies always make me cry, but I still love them.   Seriously, Dumbo is just an hour of ugly cry.

Of the modern Disney movies, I love Mulan!  Mushu is the best :)

  • Lion King is definitely my favorite Disney movie! I was a sophomore in HS when it came out on VHS and I watched it every day after school for like 3 months straight lol!
  • Disney is my obsession, I have almost all the animated movies (I have 78 so far!), I did a Disney honeymoon and got DH into Disney and my classroom theme is Disney! My number one Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast! Followed of course by the Lion King!
  • The jungle book

    DD loves bambi
  • I used to know every single word to The Lion King...I wonder how I could do now
  • I don't think there is one bad Disney movie. I love the messages they send out. Great movies to pass down to future children/grandchildren.

  • The classics are all good and I can't wait to watch them all again regularly but it's all about Frozen now! You just gotta LET IT GOOOOOOOOO!!!!! x
  • Love this post! I love 101 Dalmations! My OB has pictures from that movie in her office and I told DH I can't wait to introduce minion to old school Disney movies!
  • Beauty and the Beast was always my favorite. But Pocahontas had the best songs. My sister and I would have sing alongs.

Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast for sure, but my husband and I have a real fondness for Sword in the Stone. If baby had been a boy, his name would have been Archie for Archimedes.
  • Was I seriously the only one in love with JTT? I watched Lion King while reading Bop and Tiger Beat so. many. times.

They're all so good, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Little Mermaid were faves.

  • Beauty and the Beast is my all time fav. But I also love Aladdin, 101 Dalmations, and of course The Little Mermaid. I didn't think of this before but I'm going to have to stock up on these classics for Baby! My mom still has all of our old vhs tapes as well a vhs player for all of her future grandchildren to watch really really old school lol.
  • No Gif-ing for me because I'm mobile and lazy, but my all time fave is Beauty and the Beast, followed by Tangled and Robin Hood. My DD currently loves Robin Hood, Mulan, and the original Winnie the Pooh.

On a related note, I really don't like Frozen. When visiting my ILs for 2 weeks, their internet and TV wasn't hooked up, and the Frozen dvd was literally the only thing there to watch. DD loved it of course, but I just about pulled my hair out watching it a dozen times. Ugh.

  • I love them all!  My absolute favorites growing up were The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and the Lion King.

Kind of related, but I went right back to being an 8 year old little girl eating at the Be Our Guest restaurant in Disney World last Christmas Eve on our honeymoon in Disney World.

  • Growing up, it was definitely The Little Mermaid. I'm pretty sure it's the first movie I saw in theaters, and then I got the VHS. I had the soundtrack on cassette tape and listened to it a lot, and while my parents didn't go overboard, I'm sure I had some Ariel clothing and toys and whatnot. Also, every summer, my friends and I would pretend to be mermaids whenever we went swimming. :P Beauty and the Beast probably came in at a close second.

Now that I'm older, it's so hard to pick just one. I love both the older classics and the ones that came out during my childhood. I haven't seen all the newest ones, but I love Tangled.

  • Oh, Little Mermaid for sure...followed closely by Frozen! I can't stand the super helpless princesses who just let themselves be mistreated and taken advantage of...my princesses need a little spunk! I can't wait to watch both of those with LO. Hubby is looking forward to introducing Baby to How to Train Your Dragon.
  • DISNEY! I am a total  Disney freak. I worked at Disney World for 3 years, and will definitely be retiring there. For me, there is nothing more magical than Disney World. FI has never been and I can not wait to take him! We have a trip booked for Dec 7th 2015! EEEK!

I have to say The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King and Aladin are probably closest to my heart because I saw them in theaters as a kid. I also really loved Sword and the Stone and Tangled.

DD has had one favorite a year. First was Cinderella, then Tangled, then The Little Mermaid, and now of course Frozen.

Can we talk about The Lion King game on SEGA!? Does anyone remember that shit! I spent soooo many hours trying to get past the stupid grave yard level, and then I'd finally pass it, and I'd have to turn it off for dinner or something, and then you couldn't save it...Oh...I'm getting worked up just thinking about it.

  • @asutherl Yes, I worked there! They do a College Internship program that I did my freshman year of college, and then was offered a full time position, so I stay a few more years. It was absolutely the best decision I have ever made. My experience there has opened so many doors. The College Program really is a "you get what you give" deal. I took advantage of as many workshops, classes, and seminars that I could. They bring in CEOs and Execs from other major corporations to teach interview skills classes, resume workshops, etc.

I started a a lifeguard and through several promotions, ended up running the children's activity programs at one of the resorts. Having this on my resume is priceless.

You could absolutely be a pharmacist on site! They have their own little world there, and I am positive they have pharmacists on site.

You could also just retire there with me and be a dancer!!! I'll be driving one of the trams in the parking lot at Magic Kingdom!

  • @GirPipley - the sega game!! AH! I played that for HOURS. The graveyard level was the absolute worst.

I used to dream of working at Disney, too - I wanted to be an Imagineer (sciencey things AND Disney?? dream come true!). However, I've learned I could not live in Florida - I like my 4 seasons too much.

Other posts reminded me of another - Aristocats! The music in that one is fantastic. I'm also a big Bedknobs and Broomsticks fan - love Angela Lansbury!

Jealous! We were supposed to go over Christmas but cancelled in the interest of saving money. Are you staying on property? Where are you eating? I want to live vicariously through you, please.

  • Beauty and the beast! Still love all the songs and find the lyrics pretty hilarious.. Especially Gaston's song! Can't go wrong with Aladdin, The Lion King, or The Little Mermaid either. :)
  • Beauty and the Beast was my favorite. I had the matching bedding set when I was in pre school.

This! I had a full on Beauty and the Beast bedding set, I had a girlie canopy too! Posters were littering my walls with images from the movie.
