Lactation Oatmeal

So much as I would love to make lactation cookies and eat them all day, I would also not like to see my weight start going back up again. I am going to start eating oatmeal every day for breakfast instead. For those of you ladies who use oatmeal to help increase milk supply, do you add anything like brewer's yeast or flaxseed and if so, how much? When I google lactation oatmeal, all that really shows up are cookie recipes. Thanks for any input :)

Re: Lactation Oatmeal

  • I found a brownie recipe that said 4 tbs brewers yeast and 2 tbs flax seed meal. So when I put it in my Oatmeal I do roughly 1 spoon yeast, half meal. Sometimes I make overnight Oatmeal in the crockpot. I usually get 3-4 servings so I do the 4 and 2 like the brownies.

I also found mother's milk tea gives me a little boast too. I'll drink it if my first pumping isn't up where I want it.

  • I add 2 spoonfuls of flax meal and 1 brewers yeast. Seems to do the trick
  • I just eat plain oatmeal. At first I was engorged by the next morning but my supply regulated in about a week.
  • I do 1 cup oat, 1/2 cup flax, 1/4 cup brewers yeast when I was sick & struggling with supply nd it helped alot. The texture is weird almost phlegmy, but doesn't taste weird.

  • I don't measure the ingredients, but my oatmeal mixture is essentially a lactation cookie in a bowl.  I add flax, brewers yeast, and wheat germ to oatmeal.  I'm not an oatmeal fan, so I have to add the brown sugar and butter to make it palatable, and sometimes raisins or peanut butter chips.  It's not diet-friendly, but it's quicker than baking.

  • I just made a pot of 4 servings of steel cut oats and mixed in 2tbl spoons of brewer's yeast and 8 of flaxseed. The brewer's yeast is horrible! Do y'all just add a bunch of sugar? I added a ton of stevia and it kind of helped but it's not good.
