Reflux meds question

For those of you that have LOs on reflux meds, did your LO also spit up quite a bit? And did the meds seem to make that better? My LO has some reflux but not bad enough for the doc to prescribe meds. She also spits up pretty much at every feeding but I don't know that the spit up is directly related to the reflux. Anyway, I'm going to request meds to see if it does help with the reflux, even though minor it still makes her uncomfortable. Just wanted to know if the meds also helped with the spit up issue.

Re: Reflux meds question

  • My little guy is on meds but still spits up pretty bad. Seems to be worse in the afternoon than over night or in the mornings.

  • My guy still spits up. Zantac doesnt stop the spitting up just the discomfort.
  • My little man does still spit up with the Zantac that he was prescribed. He is exclusively formula fed and I just discovered Enfamil designed for reflux and it has drastically decreased how often he spits up.
  • The spit up and reflux seem to be separate issues. She's not in pain when she spits up but like an hour after she eats, she'll tense up her back and you can feel the stuff come up, she chokes, then gets mad and then she's fine.

We've reduced the amount she gets and feed her more often, burp her a lot, all that stuff for the reflux. The doc said she'd give us meds if we thought it was bad enough but I think we are managing pretty well. I was just curious if the meds would help the spit up too (may make it more "worth" trying the meds if it knocked out two issues) but sounds like it probably wouldn't.

    Thanks for the replies!
