Increasing clomid mid cycle

Hi all-

Just had another midcycle US done (this is my second as my follicles weren't ready for Ovidrel trigger after US three days ago). Got a call from my MD office saying they are not pleased how I am responding to the 50mg of Clomid and now on cycle day 13 want me to restart 5 days of clomid 100mg. I did not have this same problem last cycle. I go back for midcycle us #3 next Friday 1/16.

Anyone have this happen and have you had good response after the second round of medications?
TTC since September 2013.
History:
-anovulatory from 2/2014-8/2014. Used provera prescribed by GYN to induce bleeding.
-9/2014- 1st appointment with REI
-9/2014-11/2014-two cycles of Femara, one unmedicated cycle. Femara stopped due to side effects.
-12/2014-clomid & ovidrel= BFN
-1/2015- started cycle #2 of clomid (50 mg), went for mid cycle scan twice and follicles were not responding as hoped. Started on mid cycle climbed 100mg for 5 more days.

    I've heard of RE's doing a "stair-step" of medication when response is not great, so I don't think this is unusual. Hopefully someone has experienced this and can give you a better idea of what the doc is doing. Hope the higher dosage works for you!

    Thanks ladies. I have full trust in my REI, I was just so overwhelmed with frustration today. Since this was the second US I was hoping for good news and the go ahead to trigger. I guess I have to just sit back and relax and let the clomid do its job.  Just concerned with the higher dose that I may have more side effects.  The REI stopped my Femara because of side effects and supposedly that has less side effects than Clomid.  So I guess I am worried that if this doesn't work or if the side effects are bad wondering what my next step would be.  Also frustrated as my husband works two jobs and long shifts, and happened to be off all weekend.... now the timing could be all messed up. :(

    Yes, I've been stair-stepped on clomid and the higher dose made me ovulate. If it doesn't work, your next step might be injects. They have fewer side effects but cost a lot more. FX the higher dose works for you!

    @lthompson0525 I just stair stepped from 50 to 100 mg Clomid, and I had to go back throughout for 4 ultrasounds. Today I had 1 follicle that was 22/25, so I got the shot! Good luck!!!

    Me (28)- PCOS, no natural cycle since stopping BC pills in 2013
    DH (29)- SA= all good
    Married since March 2013 (together since 2004) + TTC since April 2013

    Provera 12/13, 6/14, 8/14, 10/ 14, 12/14

    Clomid 50 mg 12/14- no follicles big enough, stair stepped with Clomid 100 mg (1 follicle 22/25 mm) + Ovidrel trigger shot 1/15- BFN

    Clomid 150 mg 1/15- no follicles responding- repeated 150 mg + Ovidrel trigger shot + IUI- BFP

    @lthompson0525, I will say with the higher dose, I had insane hot flashes. But it's worth it if it works!

    I went from 50 to 100 within the same cycle and I've been having to use the batrhoom a lot on days 2 and 3 of pill.  Is that normal?
    2001 diagnosed with pit tumor-surgery, radiation
    Conditions: Acromegly (controlled), colitis (controlled)
    2/2014 met with RE and High Risk doc
    5/2014 stop BC, TTC naturally
    Never got period or ovulated
    12/2014 provera (very little shedding), chlomid 50mg -No follicles growing/no ovulation
    1/2015 chlomid 100mg -so far no follicles growing
    1/20/15- nothing growing-staring Menopur injections for IUI

    @jerseymack23‌ - yes! The hot flashes are insane and only on day 2! Luckily it's a brisk -1 degree where I live so I just open the door or window for a minute and then feel much better!

    @emy426- using bathroom more frequently meaning urinating? I think I am too but I've also been drinking. Lot more water. So I was just attributing it to the water.
