Depends on what your hospitals policy is. I'm a mother baby nurse and we allow skin-to-skin in the delivery room right after a c/s so in some cases baby can latch right on while they are still finishing everything, it might not be the ideal position but its possible. In most cases breastfeeding can begin in the recovery room right after surgery.

I agree with PP that I'm sure it varies by hospital, but it also depends on your condition and the baby's. With my first CS there were issues, and I wasn't able to try for several hours. With my second I was able to BF within 30-45 minutes after when I went into the recovery room. Ironically, I had no issues with BF the one who waited longer, and had some minor supply issues with the the one who nursed right away.
In the recovery room, although not immediately bc there was some bleeding complications that they had to get under control. Still, it was within 1-2 hours after the were born.
