looking for OB who delivers at St. Alexius

I am pregnant with my fifth and considering switching to a different OB/GYN practice.  If you have one you love (and they deliver at St. Alexius in Hoffman Estates) please recommend them.  Also, can you tell me: do they do ultrasounds, bloodwork and other testing in the office or do you have to go to an alternate location?  How easy is it to get an appointment at the day/time you want?  How hard is it to get a last minute/same day (something is wrong) kind of appointment?  How long do you typically have to wait when you go in for a standard appointment?

Thanks in Advance!

Re: looking for OB who delivers at St. Alexius

  • I love Women's Heath First - that's the practice. Everyone there is great. Bloodwork, testing, and ultrasound in office. They have a few locations (in Schaumburg off Golf and Meacham, and Hoffman Estates in Alexian Brothers Hospital), so I've never had trouble getting a standard appointment. So far I haven't needed to be seen urgently, so I can't speak to that question. Wait time at the office feels pretty standard to me.
    Hope this helps!
  • I love Novas, Dohr & Coll (novasassociates.com).  Just delivered my first baby at St. Alexius back in October and ended up seeing 3 of the 4 doctors from the practice during my delivery/hospital stay.  The 4th doctor (youngest/newest one) was on maternity at the time but she's back to working now.  I have seen all 4 doctors for regular prenatal appointments and have also seen the PA for some appointments.  I've never had to wait more the 5-10 minutes past my appointment time to be seen, and usually I was seen right on time. Never had any issues scheduling appointments either. All the tests and ultrasounds are done in the office, so you never have to go to any other places (labs, hospital, etc.) until delivery.  PM me if you have any other questions and good luck!
