IUI and trigger question

Hey peeps. So I am an IUI newb (having only done IVF) and want to hear your past experiences and thoughts.

IVF got converted to IUI. I have 1 very large follie (20mm) and 4 smaller ones (~10mm each). Testing for O using CBE digi opks and not positive yet. RE said when i get positive trigger with 5K of HCG. and then save the remaining 5K in the fridge for "later". i had a 10K for what should've been my IVF cycle this month... 

Anyone do 5K with their IUI? What about 10k? My thoughts are just do the whole shebang because wtf am i going to do with 5K in my fridge, IVF needs 10K so i'll have to buy another one anyway. Also concerned that 5K won't O them all.

IVF #1    Oct 2014 - antagonist protocol: 9R, 7M, 5F. 3dt of 3 Grade 2 embies. BFN. 
IVF #2    Jan 2015 cancelled due to dominant follicle.  Converted to IUI #1. BFFN
IVF #2.1 March 2015 cancelled due to dominant follicle.

BFP #6  (SUPRISE!) 3/19/15.  EDD 11/30/15...  CP at 4w2d.
IUI #2:    Clomid + Follistim = 3 follies. BFN.
IVF #2.2 May 2015 - horrible response to micro lupron flare protocol: 3R, 3M, 3F. 3dt of 2 Grade 3 embies. BFFN. 

BFP #7 (beyond surprised again!) 4/26/16. EDD 1/5/17. beautiful betas!!!! and then near-fatal hemorrhagic corpus luteum. turns out baby was ectopic after all; another lap 5/6 (@24dpo).

    hmmm I threw out my IUI paperwork but I am almost 99% sure that I always did 10K....Sorry I can't say for sure.

    BFP #2 1/28/14--MC 2/7/14
    IUI #1 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IUI #2 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IUI #3 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IVF #1, Stimmed for 12 days, ER 8/22/14, 9 retrieved, 7M, 7F!!  Freeze all due to fluid in uterus.
    FET end of October 2014 cancelled due to fluid in uterus due to possible c-scar defect
    Surgery scheduled 12/12/14 to fix possible isthmocele
    3/26/15 transferred one 8 cell grade 4 embryo and one 6 cell grade 3 embryo = slow rising betas for 2+ weeks = ectopic MTX shot 4/29/15
    Repeat c-scar surgery June 2015
    2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized.  Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN
    MOVING TO ADOPTION!

    Clomid cycles 7/14 & 8/14= BFN
    IUI # 1 (clomid) 8/27/14= BFN
    IUI # 2 (clomid and follistim) 9/25/14= BFN
    IUI # 3 (femara and follistim) 10/23/14= BFN
    IUI # 4 (femara and follistim) 11/20/14= BFN
    12/12/14- saline sono shows two polyps
    2/15- two uterine polyps and "schmutz" (RE's words) removed
    8/15- surprise BFP! Beta #1 70 Beta #2 150

    I triggered with ovidrel for my IUI's so I'm not any help.

    If I got a pos OPK I was supposed to skip trigger and just come in for an IUI. So maybe if you are waiting until your body is already surging you wouldn't need the full amount?

    Feb 2015 IUI#5 Converted to TI (7.5mg Femara) - BFP 3/17/15!!!

    The last 2 cycles w triggers have been w 10k (one for TI and one IUI) then this current cycle they had me do 10k and 4 2,500k boosters.

    I don't know what could it hurt by doing all 10

    Started clomid July 2014, 3 failed rounds of clomid w OB (low pro on CD 21) sent to RE

    HSG and blood work all good
    round 1: clomid and trigger shot~BFN
    round 2: clomid, trigger and IUI~BFN
    round 3: clomid, trigger and IUI +4 booster HCG~NOPE

    On a break!!! Til April/May 

    round 4:clomid, trigger (missed IUI window) NO fricking way BFP

    LOL 1 eggy, I have a LP defect so the hope is that the 4 triggers will help lengthen it :)

    6 of my IUIs were ovidrel, and the IVF convert to IUI was 10k. I'm most confused why you are waiting for a positive opk? That's what the GD ultrasound was for. If you trigger before any natural surge you have better "control" of O timing which makes IUI timing better.

    Two DDs 10/08 and 08/10, no primary IF
    TTC #3 since 10/2011 - dx unexplained/weak ovulation
     3 BFN clomid + TI cycles, 5 BFN clomid/gonal f IUIs, 1 mmc IUI
    2/19/2014 IVF #1 Unexpected low E2 (oversuppressed) -> increased to max doses = 3 or 4 follicles, converting to IUI
    BFFP Saw 1 beautiful heartbeat at 6w6d, follow up u/s at 9w showed mmc. Eff this.
    NTNP 5/2014-9/2014, OPKs and TI 10/2014 - 1/2015. 
    RPL testing all normal, AFC, AMH, and FSH all normal. 
    IVF 1.2 1/22/2014 natural cycle start, AFC 28, 300 gonal f/150menopur. 
    ER 2/3/15 14R 8M 3F w/ICSI Day 5 transfer on 2/8/15 of one "Grade A+" blast and have TWO frosties!

    I was thinking the same thing, Jen.. But my IUIs didn't work, so maybe there's something to do this?

    IUIs are all about timing, and getting a positive opk doesn't give you exact time of the surge, you just know you caught it - could be on the upswing or downswing. I was 2/7, which is 29% success. 

    Two DDs 10/08 and 08/10, no primary IF
    TTC #3 since 10/2011 - dx unexplained/weak ovulation
     3 BFN clomid + TI cycles, 5 BFN clomid/gonal f IUIs, 1 mmc IUI
    2/19/2014 IVF #1 Unexpected low E2 (oversuppressed) -> increased to max doses = 3 or 4 follicles, converting to IUI
    BFFP Saw 1 beautiful heartbeat at 6w6d, follow up u/s at 9w showed mmc. Eff this.
    NTNP 5/2014-9/2014, OPKs and TI 10/2014 - 1/2015. 
    RPL testing all normal, AFC, AMH, and FSH all normal.

    so RE told me to be having sex EOD. and when i get + trigger (which i'm testing for twice a day) come in for IUI 36 hrs later. is that weird? i've never had an IUI so i don't know any better!  :-?

    I'm so new to this and late to the discussion but they did 10k trigger after a monitoring u/s and did back to back iuis 24 and 48 hours after the trigger. All was done much earlier than I usually O (CD 16 or 17, they triggered me on CD 12).

    I just did 6 of these bad boys and they had me come in for an ultrasound and told when when to trigger, we had sex that night and 36 hours later we did the IUI. I also only used one trigger for them.
