Prenatal Vitamins???

Just curious as to what everyone's favorite prenatal vitamins are and why... I was picking some up at the store today and happened to flip over the two brand options (Women's 1 Day Prenatal and Similac Prenatal) and they just seemed very different by their content of each vitamin...

So what's your favorite? Are there any that seem better than others?  I want the best for my little one!! :-)

Re: Prenatal Vitamins???

  • I just get the cheapest one at ASDA, or whichever is on offer :)

  • My OB prescribed a prenatal vitamin for me. So I know I've got everything I need and don't have to supplement. And, as an added bonus, it's covered by insurance because it's prescribed so I don't have to pay for costly prenatal vitamins.
You should ask your OB if they might be able to do they same for you. I'm not sure that prescribing them is a common practice but it never hurts to ask. =)

  • The nature valley prenatals with DHA. They don't give me heart burn, constipation or diaherria. My OB said any would do as long as I'm eating right.

Same here. I had to take them at night during the 1st half of my pregnancy otherwise I got super nauseated, so now out of habit I just take mine before bed.
  • I have resorted to 2 Flinstones and Folic Acid. I have yet to find a prenatal that I can take that doesn't make my constipation even worse than it already is.
  • I tool a liquid because I had a hard time getting the pills down.   The moment the started melting in my mouth I'd gag.
  • I also take the NatureMade Muli + prenatal. I've been taking them since about last summer. If you have a Martin's/Giant near you, they're on sale this week, buy one get one free. Score!

  • I take vitafol they have all the nutrients in this vitamin
  • I actually just take Kroger brand, and they work wonderfully. My doctor actually told me it doesn't really matter the brand, but the folic acid should range from 400 to 800. Hope that helps in some odd way :)
  • I take pregnacare Plus - which has
folic acid, vitamin d and omega 3 :)
