**Working Mom Check In 1/8**

Happy New Year! Sorry I've slacked on posting this! My unoriginal excuse is that lo has decided to on,y sleep 90 min at a time. How is LO? What's your sleep situation? Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping? How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in? Have a great week and stay warm :)

Re: **Working Mom Check In 1/8**

  • LO's sleep is all over the place!! It's so exhausting! I got lucky last night and he slept for two 3 hour stretches and then a 1.5 hour stretch. Which was nice since I had to be up at 5 for work today. But for the last couple weeks I've been lucky if I get 2 hours at a time. And his naps don't seem to last more than 45 mins max.

I haven't used any tools to help with sleeping other than just trying to get him used to our bedtime routine. We're still swaddling but I think he's about to start rolling over so that will have to end soon. I'm thinking about trying Merlin's Sleep Suit or the Zipadee thing. I just hate spending that kind of money if they don't work.

Me and DH are both frustrated with the lack of sleep and it has definitely put stress on our relationship. I've noticed myself snapping at him and just generally annoyed at the way he does things. We were actually able to talk about it a little the other night so that was helpful. We've always had a great relationship so this stress and frustration is new for both of us. Sundays are wonderful when we get to spend the whole day together as a family.

Ughhhhh awful. Only 2 hours max at night and I just spent 2 hours trying to get him down for a nap without a paci. Finally gave up and put him in his vibrating bouncy chair with the paci.

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping?
I'm mad bc in bought a Merlin's magic sleep suit and it was the worst night yet :/. I'm going to try the sleep sense methods tonight and see how it goes. My friend swears by it and it is modified CIO but I can't go on this way.

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in?
We are totally at each other's throats. He got laid off while I was still on may leave and hasn't been able to find a job so he's at home. He hasn't read a single book about babies or sleeping so we are not on the same page at all. I was up every 90 min with LO last night then when I finally woke him up to take a turn at 4:30 he told me I should have tried rocking him back to sleep and I should have given him nose drops at 11. Bite me yo!

  • Happy new year!  Sleep is up and down.  The boys used to start the 1st part of the night with a solid 4 1/2 hour sleep stretch, but then went to waking up every 90 mins.  The past couple of nights, they've had 3-4 hour stretches, so hopefully we've turned a corner.  Also, their naps sucked, but the past couple of days, they had some nice long ones.

No formal sleep programs, but we're practicing "drowsy but awake" and "pick up/put down" for the crying.  I think it's helped get the longer stretches back.

Things with the hubby are OK.  He stays home with the babies and is doing an awesome job with them.  He also gets up with them at night, so I don't have to, so I can't complain.

  •  How is LO? E is getting over the flu.  I hate that she got sick.  She's doing good though.  In the middle of 4th leap, but you can tell she's getting more and more interactive with her toys!  So neat to watch them grow.

What's your sleep situation? Horrible.  1-2 hours unless we cheat and let her sleep in her swing.  I'm still getting over being sick so I feel like a zombie

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping? Following this tread for good book ideas!

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in? We've had our moments.  We really need to find the balance with his work wanting him 6 days a week... I feel like I'm doing everything alone and starting to feel resentful.

  • How is LO? Great - social and vocal and happy. Daycare loves him and he seems to like it there.

What's your sleep situation? We aren't in a routine yet (I went back to work the week of Christmas so we have yet to have a full normal week at daycare) but I've moved bedtime up from 10+ to 8 or 9pm because he's so wiped out by then. He has started waking up at 10pm, so I nurse him one more time and put him back in the crib once he's almost or fully asleep.

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping? Nothing brilliant to offer here. We've been swaddling with the Miracle Blanket but he worked his hands out last night to suck on them, and he's trying really hard to roll, so I ordered small and medium Zippys today. I keep seeing the 2-3-4 schedule come up but I can't figure out how it would work with his naps at daycare.

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in? Okay. He misses the sex, me not so much, but I miss his company - I feel like he disappears into the basement to play video games every evening and leaves me to deal with LO alone. We talked/cried it out last week and I'm hoping we will be better now, plus getting an evening routine and meal plan and everything will help too.

  • I just returned to work on Monday, and I hope you don't mind me joining this check in.

How is LO? Very alert, curious, and giggly.
What's your sleep situation? Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping?
He sleeps in the RnP in our bedroom. He typically sleeps 5-6 hour stretches at night before waking up to nurse, but of course he decided he needs to wake up more often this week. Great!
How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in?
The first few months were hard, and it's getting better. DH is starting to help more with baby and household chores.
  • Can I join? I just went back to work this week

How is LO? What's your sleep situation?
She is great- adjusting to daycare. Went from napping 5 hrs a day to about 1.5. I thought this would totally mess up her nighttime sleeping, but luckily she's still sleeping well. It's nice because she'll now nap in her crib before dinner because she's so tired. I'm scared of this so called 4 month sleep regression!

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping?
I've used a program called Moms On Call from the start that I got a lot of side eye for because it does involve some CIO (even though I really just let her fuss), but it works great for us.

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in?
It's going well - it's a new transition with me being back to work. I work from home and have her in daycare 3 days a week (my mom then comes one day and DH the other). I'm very blessed to not have the typical stressors that most working moms do and that I can start dinner prep or some laundry during the day. I can say it's made our relationship stronger as he really is a hands on dad

  • How is LO? What's your sleep situation?
Doing pretty good, have been working on breaking the eat-to-sleep association at bedtime, and she is adjusting to that.  Still have to nurse her back to sleep if she wakes up, though...doesn't like my husband going in!

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping?
We use the Halo sleepsack, but she's so active at night I just bought a Zipadeezip and hope the helps.

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in?

Much better!  We got into it recently on breaking DD's habit of nursing to sleep every time she wakes, but he was looking out for my sleep and sanity.  He's been amazing in helping me with her and takes a much larger role now to take the pressure off of me a little.

  • Went back to work yesterday, so I'm joining in!

How is LO? What's your sleep situation? -- Of course he got his first cold the day we started daycare. Stuffiness and a cough. Because of this he's been waking up constantly. Perfect timing! Prior to that he was sleeping really good 7-8 hour stretch followed by another 3-4 hour stretch. Hoping we get back to that ASAP!

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping? I made myself cra-cra-insane with sleep books and programs with my DS. So I vowed not to do that to myself again this time. We will CIO when I feel like he has the ability to self-soothe. If he even needs it.

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in? Pretty good. Now that I'm back at work, I'm going to ask him to help me with the MOTN stuff, but I'm not sure it will work. He's a super heavy sleeper and I have a hard time sleeping if I know the baby is up. But, I am so tired!!! I need some help!

  • How is LO?

    He's a doll!  Sweet, beautiful, and good-natured.

    What's your sleep situation?

I finally gave in to my DH and LO sleeps in a swing by my bed.  He usually sleep the stretch from midnight to 6:30 or so each night.  Last night we put him to bed at 11 and he still slept to 6:30.  My sleep has been good since Christmas when this lengthy sleeping started.  :)

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping?

I got a book on sleep training, but when I started reading it -- it basically said what I was doing at that time was right and not to worry bout it until about 3 months.  Well -- at 3 months, we were pretty happy with where we were, so I haven't gone back to the book.  (I don't have time to read anyway and DH refuses to do it.)

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in?

We have our ups and downs, but mostly it's ok -- better than it was a year ago, so I'm pretty happy.  :)

  • How is LO? He's doing good. Had our first real trip to Urgent Care on Monday because LO cut his thumb pretty deep from a piece of broken plate (DH broke it and I guess a piece stuck to his shirt, he was holding LO later and somehow it found its way into his thumb).

What's your sleep situation? Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping? It would be wonderful if LO would go to bed earlier in the evening but after I went back to work, he won't go down earlier than midnight-1am. It's hard too when DH stays up that late too so he ends up keeping LO up too by giving him a pass instead of really trying to get him to sleep. After that, he'll usually have a good 4-5 hour stretch, wake up and eat, then go back down for 2-3 hours. Haven't tried anything yet other than really than bedtime consistency (bath, boobie/bottle, rock to sleep).

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in? It's alright. DH's work is being cranky about him having to not work two of his shifts because we can't find someone to watch LO and now he thinks they are going to cut all his days because they were interviewing someone today. It worries me since we need his check to pay some of the bills and he most likely won't be able to find a similar job with this type of schedule.

  • I've been working from home for about 8 weeks but this week I started back at work physically.

    How is LO?
DD seems like she is enjoying daycare. She is eating like crazy though. 24oz a day and I am struggling to keep up by pumping. Would love to hear any advice from any other moms successfully pumping at work. She's full of smiles and has giggled once. Still trying to roll over without any success.

    What's your sleep situation?
LO is still pretty random with her sleep. Some nights she wakes up every 3 hours, some nights she sleeps for 7 hours straight and others she wakes up after 3 hours but then goes back to sleep for 6+. Since she has been trying to roll we started putting her in the magic Merlin suit. She seems ok with it. It has helped a lot with putting her down drowsy but awake. Hoping to wean that off to nothing in the 4-5 month range.

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping?

I went on troublesometots.com quite a bit when V was having lots of sleep issues. I'm feeling ok with how things are right now.

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in?

We have our ups and downs. DH has chronic headaches and has been having some issues with that. Whenever he is feeling particularly bad his tolerance for the baby's grumpiness isn't high and it can make me feel like I can't get away at all. Overall our relationship is good but we do squabble a lot more now than we did pre baby.
  • Ro is doing okay. I feel awful for everyone who is struggling with night sleep because ours is going down by 9 and sleeping until 6am. 4th leap is coming though so I'm sure we're get hit. We are really struggling with day naps though. She has to be held or she wakes up. No programs or books. We have been winging it. DH got laid off my first week back at work so we have been touch and go. Earlier tonight we had a fight and then talked some things out. It feels better now that all the quiet resentment is out there. Just before he got laid off we had decided to move me to part time and of course that hasn't happened since he is jobless. We are both feeling stressed. We will eventually get through this though.

  • How is LO? He is doing so well and growing like a weed, although he has this little nagging cough, which sometimes sounds like he is faking it, we will see.

What's your sleep situation? It varies from night to night. Sometimes up every hour, but I have gotten one 7 hour stretch! I think he's just getting used to the new schedule.

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping? Not really. I need to finish reading the No Cry Sleep Solution, I've heard good things about it.

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in? DH has been sick all week, so that has been interesting getting someone to care for LO in the hopes that he doesn't get sick, but there is that nagging little cough. Our relationship is ok, just different I guess. We love our little bean, so that is really where the focus is right now, and I go to bed when he does, and since DH works at night, we don't get much quality time together at all.

  • How is LO:
She is the happiest baby I have ever seen. She giggles and 'talks' constantly.

    What's your sleep situation:
She has been in her crib since week 8 and STTN, with one wake up around 3 or 5.

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in?
We are good. We were both sick last week so tempers were thin. I came to realize that I need to ask for me help sometimes and try not to do everything myself.

  • How is LO?

He woke up with a fever of 102 in the middle of the night, he seemed like his normal self so I decided to wait and see if it would go down rather than waking up his doc. This morning it was at 100.4 so I think he is just fighting something off - will call the doctor today if it doesn't go back to normal.

    What's your sleep situation?

Pretty shitty the past few nights. He seems to sleep well for a week or so, then have a few bad nights, then sleep well again...

Have you used any books/programs/products that are helping?

    Nope!

How is your relationship with your SO now 3-4 mo in?

He's driving me nuts. The other day I asked him to hold LO for five seconds so I could use the bathroom and he's like "uh, I was just about to eat lunch..." I'm not sure what he thinks I do when I eat lunch, but it usually isn't sit in a chair, relax, and read the paper...
