Maternity dress pants

Does anyone have suggestions for where to purchase dress pants that won't be disgustingly tight on my thighs? I'm 23 weeks and XL, which fit fine everywhere besides my thighs. I don't have this problem with regular clothes but have yet to find dress pants that are work acceptable that aren't super tight on my thighs. I do have big thighs but Not HUGE that I would have thought this would be such a big issue for work pants. I've tried motherhood maternity and target. Thanks in advance!

  • I forgot I tried there already also. The fit was terrible, and I had the opposite problem, extra material everywhere and had to constantly pull up. Talk about a saggy bottom! I hate the idea of spending more money than needed on clothes I'll wear for such a short time but need pants for work.

I know the feeling. The struggle is real, lol. I am tall on top of being xl, so it's difficult to find pants that fit right around the waist and good length....
I've been checking places like kohls, boscovs, gap...and mostly online like Amazon and stuff which is tough too because you can't try on.

    Good luck
  • What about getting the ones from Old Navy and having them tailored?  I've had pants taken in for $10 - $12 at my local dry cleaners.  Or buying a cheap pair from Goodwill or Salvation Army and having those taken in?
  • I bought maternity clothes super cheap off someone on Craigslist... as soon as I put them on I couldn't figure out why other pants even exist!  The pants I bought were all work appropriate black and khaki and still had tags on them... great condition!!  (That doesn't help you though!)

I would say check out a thrift store just to check out some different brands and try some on... you might find a nice variety... and if you're not super into thrift stores (I know I'm not!) then just keep in mind that women don't wear these pants for more than a year.. and you might find some gems like I did that still have tags on and were never worn!

The brand that I really like is Duo (which I think she said she bought at either Kohls or JCPenny's)... I have 1 pair under belly (my favorite) and 1 pair over belly... I really like both!

(I'm also XL... typicall 14-16 in pants... they seem a little loose but honestly I like them like that because they are so comfy! And they still look great at work!)... I figure what's a little loose now at 14 weeks will get a bit tighter as weeks go by, so make sure you're keeping that in mind too! (You don't want to keep buying new pants as quickly as you will outgrow them!)

Good Luck!  Let us know what you find! :-)

  • I found some in the maternity section of Gap
  • I have tried some from most of the stores mentioned. I thought motherhood and target brand dress pants seemed a little tight as well. My bootcut black dress pants from gap fit slightly looser than the kohls, target and motherhood.
  • The only Gap Maternity in the area is not too close to me but I just need to suck it up and get there to try their selection.  Thanks!

Loft was my go to for work pants (if that's what you mean by dress pants).  I think of myself as fairly average sized with normal lady thighs and I didn't find them too tight.  They are not cheap though, so look for a 40/50/60% off deal.
I didn't think about Loft.  I get their emails all the time so I'll check out their sales.  thank you!
  • I got some at Kohls

  • I recommend Gap! Old Navy quality doesn't hold up and the gap ones are great, especially if you can sang them on sale (which is almost always). I've gotten two pairs for $20 each. Go a size up in dress fabrics.
  • I've found a lot at Gap on sale! 2 pairs of pants at $12 a piece!

I just realized H&M has a maternity section online!

Also, Asos maternity. Never ordered from there so I can't speak of quality, but just recently browsed their website and the stuff is cute.
  • I just want to wear skirts all the time at his point. If it weren't 10 degrees I would be wearing more of them and dresses!
  • I got some dress black pants that are super comfy from kohls! Kind of expensive but at the time they were buy one get one for a buck so I just went with it
  • I have the same problem! I have 2 pairs of dress pants from my first pregnancy that I got at Macy's. They're Motherhood Maternity I think, but a different material that doesn't stick to my thighs. I also have a pair from a consignment store that are like regular pants and have an inside "belt" that you can make smaller or bigger so it can grow with you. I second the Duo Brand. I borrowed 2 pair from my cousin last time and they fit good (too big for me because they were extra large, but I could tell a size down would have been fine too). I'm now in search for another 2 pair since my cousin and I are pregnant at the same time so I can't borrow hers again!
