Pumping Pitty Party

Anyone want to join? I work FT and pump 4x a day to have enough for LO to eat the time I'm at work and nurse him exclusively at home. It's going well enough practically, but I'm exhausted and have no free time. Any fellow wallowers? Or anyone have ways they adjust their attitude when it literally and figuratively sucks?

Re: Pumping Pitty Party

  • Yeah, I felt that way, too! My DD is 13 months now and I'm weaning the pumps and down to 1 pump a day-so much easier now!

What is your output? My experience is that mamas tend to pump more than they need to sometimes because LO is being overfed at daycare. I pumped and sent what I could--especially once I experienced a baby-led supply decrease around 8 months. I never pumped more than 3x/day and at my max was sending 13.5 oz for 9.5 hours.

I also stored used pump parts in my fridge pack in between pumps so I wasn't constantly washing pump parts all day long.

I had a a not so great attitude about it but once she turned 11 months my outlook on breastfeeding got drastically better because I stopped stressing about supply and it all felt more natural and what I though BFing "should" feel like.

  • There are 7 girls I work with that are pumping. We pump together over breaks and chat. We also have had providers buy us a massage chair to pump in. I don't mind it.

  • Your group pumping sounds awesome. I think a lot of my issue has to do with the isolation as all my breaks are spent pumping alone. I pump 16-20 oz per work day and he eats about that. I'm gone for almost 11 hours. I had to add in a 4th pump session because I wasn't keeping up with him. Thanks for the responses. :)
