Let's talk weight/bodies...

edited January 2015 in October 2014 Moms
How much weight do you have to lose before getting back to your pre-pregnancy weight. How are you feeling about your body in general?

  • I am about 15 pounds away from my pp weight. I had gained some weight over the holidays before I got pregnant so I really need to loose about 25 or so. I feel great about the weight that I've lost so far but my body is totally different. I still can't fit into any of my jeans, even the ones that fit me when I was 5lbs heavier than I am now. I need to start working out more or else I'll never fit into my summer clothes!

  • I gained about 40-45 lbs. Not really sure what my weight was on Delivery day. I have about 20 to loose before I am back at pp weight I have lost about 27 to date. I would like to loose another 50 which would put me in the 120's but I have never been that low of a weight in my adult life.

I cannot fit into my pp jeans which makes me sad - all the weight gain was in my ass, I swear. My boobs are too big for most of my tops right now.  I have had a couple of big meltdowns about my weight and the way my clothes fit, but I feel like its getting a little bit better as the weight comes off and the better I eat. I really want to get into my summer clothes!

It was a little depressing when I went to the dr. Tuesday and she told me for my height I am borderline obese - wtf

  • I gained 55lbs during pregnancy. I lost 30 so far. Before I got pregnant I was actively dieting and working out. I had lost 25lbs and I wanted to lose 10 more. When I got pregnant I stopped working out and ate whatever I wanted which was mostly healthy but I didn't hesitate to eat junk either.

My dr said that dieting before getting pregnant can cause you to gain more during pregnancy. He listed a bunch of reasons but I don't remember them. So I look at it as I am starting back at square one. At least this time I sort of have an excuse as to why I'm overweight!
  • Although I am in the "healthy" weight for my height according to the charts, I'd need to loose about 20lbs of fat and put on about 10lbs of muscle to get back to where I was before and to fit into my old skinny pants. I'm not too worried about it (even though it's frustrating) since I feel that I need the extra cushion for breastfeeding. The holidays definitely didn't help with any weight loss that might have happened on its own if the cookies weren't around. I think just toning up and focusing on strengthening my core will have to be enough for now.
  • I gained 50lbs and have 3 to go in order to be pp weight. Still need to lose an extra 25 ( went a little crazy on my honeymoon and the holidays before getting preggers.) My Dr said I lost the weight so fast because a lot was water weight due to my awful swelling.
  • I have about ten pounds to go and it's not coming off without exercise which I can't figure out when the hell I'm going to jam that into the schedule. What I'm wondering is are my hips going to get closer together? They seem SO wide soon. I can't get most of my pants/skirts past my friggin hips. It's not a fat issue, it's a width issue. Any more recent STMs remember how long it takes?

  • Gained 40 and still have over 15 to go. I'm telling myself most of this is boobs and butt (which is a new addition I happen to love.) Still trying to eat healthier at work and get back into shape. This may also be an UO, but it irritates the hell out of me when co-workers think they can comment on my body, weight, or meal choices and think its constructive to tell me I don't need to lose anymore weight. I thought the unsolicited opinions would stop after the baby popped out.

Just one of the lovely reasons I'm THRILLED to be back at work.

  • I didnt vote, because I dont even own a scale. I was about 5 pounds below pre-preg weight at my 6 week PP check up but I dont gain much during my pregnancies, anyway.

But Ive been SO hungry all the time from BF and I feel like Ive gained weight since then.
  • So jealous of all of you who are pretty much back to normal! Finally found a daycare option that works for us and looking forward to starting a routine w work so that I can think about something other than my next meal!
  • I'm still 20 pounds above pre pregnancy weigh. I expect to hold onto it until after I stop breastfeeding. That's what happened with my first. I couldn't even loose 1 pound while breastfeeding and it's turning out to be the same this time around.

  • I was also plus sized to begin with and with the GD, I didn't gain that much weight. So, I am back at pp weight but hope to be able to start WW soon to drop some more off.

  • Last I checked I had 10 lbs left out of 40 to get back to PP weight. Which is a good 15 lbs over what I would like to weigh. I haven't checked lately because I feel horrible about myself right now and don't want to cement that with facts. I pretty much hate my body right now. Part of why I don't want to have sex even though DH doesn't care about my weight. I am starving with BF and I don't always make good snack choices. The glass or wine or beer/day isn't helping either but I missed it so much.

Whatever, need to stop thinking about this right now unless it's to think about what I'm going to do about it.  I bookmarked this awhile back and need to read and reread it daily https://weseekjoy.blogspot.com/2013/12/babies-ruin-bodies.html?m=1

  • After having DS, I went back down to my high school weight. It was so awesome. And then I made up for it by gaining 50 lbs with this pregnancy. I am 22 lbs to pre pregnancy but only 8-10 to the weight I was all throughout my 20s. Not sure which one I'll go back to. Right now I'm not worrying about it until we are done BF'ing.

  • I am plus sized, and only gained 15 lbs, so I've been back to pre pregnancy WEIGHT for a while now. Pre-pregnancy SIZE is a whole different story. Sure, I wasn't tiny before, but this dangling jiggle pudge is a whole new ball game. I'm beginning to feel like it will never ever be gone.

  • I have a little over 5 lbs to go and am back in some of my clothes, although fitted shirts show off the serious muffin top I've got going on. It's like my abs are still having trouble holding everything in. I am working out 3-4 times a week and eating as many heathy calories as I can while I'm bf'ing but I pretty much eat whatever I want.

I don't weigh myself often but based on where I was at my 6 week pp appointment and where I am now, I seem to be losing about a pound a week so hopefully that will continue. With DS1, I wasn't comfortably back in my old clothes until about 7 months pp so I won't worry about it for now, just will try to keep healthy.
