I know a few of us have mentioned signing the babies up for swim lessons.
We're required to have him in a swim diaper. Anyone buy one already? Where did you find these? (Class starts Saturday so I don't know if I can order online).
I guess, @skittler2... The program says "swim diaper required" - do you think they'd know the difference?
@charsamm I didn't even realize they sold disposable swim diapers though. Maybe I'll just grab a package of those... Seems a little wasteful since we will only use 1 a week but whatever.
I was just wondering this same thing. Our pool starts lessons next month. Then I got preoccupied with the fact that I too would need to be in a swimsuit.
@hampire I am sending DH in the pool and I will stand on the sidelines cheering them on and taking pictures.
(I am not purposefully skipping out because of the swimsuit, but only one of us can do the swimming and DH was really excited about it, so there you go. No swimsuit for me!)
I just bought Huggies Lil' Swimmers at Rite Aid last night. We start swim lessons Saturday! Of course now I'm unsure whether we have a suit that fits her....
@lest12 You could probably get away with that! I would just feel weird because LO is a girl (even though she's a baby, but whatever I guess I am just funny about that kind of thing!) I just have no experience with swim diapers but I think maybe having another layer of "protection" from the suit would probably be a good thing?
@babygabe614 - I totally get the girl thing, I'd be the same way. But I also agree it couldn't hurt to have the extra layer of protection, anyway. I guess I know what I'm doing tonight!
Im planning on using a cloth diaper cover as well. I know our pool sells the swim diapers too so I can always do that if they don't like the cloth (they are 2$ a piece though!).
I am also most worried about a swimsuit for myself. My bewbz are out of control right now since I am still nursing and they won't fit into any of my old bikinis (I was already a 34d pre pregnancy). Does any one have any good suggestions for ginormous tatas??? I am generally ok with my body right now but it is frustrating when I literally can't find a suit to fit my top half. I gave up this summer when we went to the lake and just wore a shirt but I don't want to have to do that again.
I am curious for those who have taken their LOs swimming, have you had any problems with the chlorine? I would love to take LO swimming and never even thought of swim lessons, that's great! Just curious about the chlorine and any skin irritation or problems with water getting in their eyes.
A friend of mine gave us a reusable swim diaper to use. Haven't ever tried disposable ones. We have taken her swimming lots and thankfully haven't had a poop in the pool yet, so not sure how well they actually work. I just read on the Toys R Us website that they are only designed to hold in solids. We are taking her to Jamaica on Monday so fingers crossed the poop will be contained.
I just ordered this baiting suit from Victoria's Secret. It fits awesome! I too have ginormous tatas currently from BF and it has awesome support and is slimming in the tum tum.
We've gone to open preschool "swim" and not firmsl lessons. It's free and had allowed LO to get used to the water. I've just used huggies disposable swim diapers. Some babies have suits on, others have just had the diaper. The benefit to wearing a suit (if you include a shirt) is that they stay a bit warmer. A little tip is that it's a little easier to remove the shorts and shirt in the water. As far as chlorine goes, my LO hasn't had an issue but he is also not one of those babies with lots of sensativities.
Lest, I'm not sure where you are but I saw the disposable ones today at ShopRite if you have one nearby. I think they were also running a sale on them. I also saw the cover for the cloth diaper at BRU, I think they are a bit expensive so I'm not sure if it's worthy. They are on the side of the diaper/ wipes aisle.
@frenchchocolate611 I buy my swimsuits and bras at Leonisa.com, the quality and the fit is very good. I hear you on the big boobs, mine are out of control.
I found disposable ones on clearance at BRU. It was actually trickier than I thought. They only had larges left in the cloth (reusable?) and weird sizes in the disposable. I had to size up but I think they'll be ok.target didn't have any!
I also couldn't help it and bought LO a Mickey Mouse bathing suit.

I didn't even think of a suit, @babygabe614.
I kind of just thought I'd plop him in there in a diaper.
I don't think things through, ever.
