Cloth Diapering

Applecheeks wicking at legs?

I have a few applecheeks size 1 diapers that I tried on my LO (4 wks old!) and while it seems like I have a good snug fit, the ruffles at the legs wickout onto her pants.

Any troubleshooting tips? I stuffed the pocket with a tri folded NB prefold the first time, and a NB prefold with a hemp insert the second time.

Re: Applecheeks wicking at legs?

  • Could what you're stuffing with be causing gaps at the legs? Put the diaper on, lay her on her back and lift her legs up towards her head. Look for gaps.

Are you sure you got the prefold completely tucked in?

If neither of the above are the culprit, try tucking the ruffled part of the elastic edge in instead of letting it go out like you'd expect. We never had to do that with ours but in my days of AC reasearch when we were having trouble I remember reading that some people do that.

  • I'll check better for leg gaps- she's still on the small side so this could be it. The prefold wasn't soaked either time when I changed her, so it doesn't seem like an absorbency issue. Thanks!!

  • I agree to check for leg gaps first. Have you tried stuffing and using as an AI2? Do you have the ruffles all the way out?

I had to stop using ACs because they leaked out the legs every single time. My DD is long and skinny and we just couldn't get a good fit with that brand. It is still early for you but I'm just sharing our experience.
