I know all babies are different.. yadda yadda...etc. BUT just to get an idea of what other LOs are eating and how much at this point:
What solids have you tried and what kind (purees, BLW...)?
When do you incorporate solids into your feeding schedule?
How much are you giving LO?
Have you experienced any reactions?
What brand are you using or are you making your own?
Re: If you're doing solids, how much?
When do you incorporate solids into your feeding schedule?
7am Nurse
8am 2oz fruit
11am Nurse
12pm 2oz fruit & 2oz veggie
3pm Nurse
4pm 2oz fruit & 2 oz veggie
7pm Nurse
How much are you giving LO?
2 oz in the morning and 4oz for lunch and dinner. Sometimes he finishes it all and sometimes he doesn't. I just follow his lead. He's been nursing the same since we started.
Have you experienced any reactions?
None so far
What brand are you using or are you making your own? I've been making my own and on occasion will use the gerber organic brand.
When do you incorporate solids into your feeding schedule? Once a day after 4pm feeding (usually at 5)
How much are you giving LO? 1/2 a container of the stage 1 Gerber
Have you experienced any reactions?no
What brand are you using or are you making your own? Gerber
When do you incorporate solids into your feeding schedule? We just started a few weeks ago and were doing half a stage 1 Gerber veggie with rice mixed in at night. She's taken to it wonderful and I can't get the food in her mouth fast enough so I've started doing rice and half a stage 1 fruit at lunch time and a full container of veggies at dinner. Also nurses on demand.
Have you experienced any reactions?
Nope
What brand are you using or are you making your own? Gerber for now, I have all intentions of making my own but life keeps getting in the way haha
Oatmeal, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, peas, carrots, and avocado. All pureed in my food processor.
When do you incorporate solids into your feeding schedule?
I breastfeed on demand, about 7-8 times a day and give solids at lunch and dinner time. So little one gets the breast whenever he asks, a veg between 11 and noon, and oatmeal at 7pm, which is about an hour before bed. He'll be starting fruits at breakfast (probably about 8 am) in a few days.
How much are you giving LO?
As much or as little as he wants (with a three bite minimum). He eats about an ounce of most veg at a sitting, but will eat two or more oz of sweet potatoes -he loves it. He eats much more oatmeal (made with breastmilk), but I haven't measured it. I usually go through about 4oz of milk plus enough oatmeal to get it to the consistency I want.
Have you experienced any reactions?
Not allergic reactions, but he definitely reacts when given a food that he doesn't like. Squash and avocado both make him gag (poor baby!) but I keep them in rotation to keep exposing him to the tastes. I won't make him eat more than a few bites of those though, if he doesn't want to.
What brand are you using or are you making your own?
I make my own.
Oatmeal and purees
When do you incorporate solids into your feeding schedule?
In the AM we do oatmeal about an hour after she nursed. Then in the evening we do jarred baby food, again an hour after she nursed and close to bedtime.
How much are you giving LO?
Oatmeal: 1 Tbs with 3 Tbs BM. Purees: less than half a jar.
Have you experienced any reactions?
Nope
What brand are you using or are you making your own?
Natures Best and our store brand organic. We also have some Gerber and Beechnut. I plan to use mostly organic brands though.
When do you incorporate solids into your feeding schedule? We've been giving it around 6/6:30 when we have dinner. It's after her late afternoon feeding but before her bedtime one.
How much are you giving LO? So far, about a tablespoon of dry cereal mixed with about 1 oz of pumped milk. I'll start increasing the amount now that she's getting used to eating solids.
Have you experienced any reactions?Nope.
What brand are you using or are you making your own? We use Earth's Best organic cereals. I received a Baby Bullet for Christmas and plan to start making some purees in it this weekend. I think I'll start with (organic) sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and peas.
Edit: took out extra word
We've just done peas so far. Green beans are next, and I bought some broccoli but now I'm not sure that's the best idea. Doing purres right now. (We just started last weekend) Our pedi suggested green veggies first, and then move to yellow and then orange.
When do you incorporate solids into your feeding schedule?
Just once a day. I'll try a purée about an hour after I nurse her in the evenings after I get home from work. Once she figures out how to eat it then I'll start sending some with her to daycare.
How much are you giving LO? She barely eats anything, still figuring it out. I heat up one frozen ice cube size but she doesn't come close to finishing it.
Have you experienced any reactions?
Not, yet.
What brand are you using or are you making your own?
Making my own. I just steam the veggies and throw them in a blender with some breastmilk, dump them into an ice cube tray to freeze and then put the pucks in a zip lock freezer bag. I get almost an entire ice cube tray full for a $1-$5 depending on the type of veggie. I'm trying to buy organic when I can.
We are doing purees right now. DS2 has tried squash, carrots, green beans, peas and bananas.
Depending on how much solid food he gets in the morning, he may or may not get more in the evening. If it's fresh banana he gets about 2 tbsp and will take more food in the evening. If it's gerber baby food and he eats a whole container in one sitting, then no more solids in the evening. He also always has milk with any solid.
So far we have experienced no reactions.

Tried BLW with avocados, bananas, and sweet potatoes. She didn't seem too coordinated. She barfed up the avocado, so we gave up and went back to purees.
Uh.. 4 1/2 or closer to 5 months?
She gets a solid about once a day usually, sometimes two.
No, unless you include the avocado barfs. Sometimes she will take it and sometimes it's green slime shooting across my living room.
Make my own. Get a tri crock pot. 3 different items at once. Mash together if you want. Whatevs.
Baby G born 6/6/14, 37 weeks 1 day due to preeclampsia. 5lb12oz 19"
#2 due Christmas 2016.
My plan is to give her peas and squash and then start making mixed purées.
Also once she's 8 months I'll start her on 3 meals a day. Breakfast friut and cereal, lunch veggie and cereal, dinner protein and veggie and cereal.
I absolutely love feeding her. She's so cute with her little faces and sounds. I even enjoy seeing how whatever I put into her comes out basically exactly the same.
When do you incorporate solids into your feeding schedule? Usually an hour after her 5-6 pm feeding.
How much are you giving LO? I've got 2 oz portions made but she probably "eats" an ounce and actually eats 1/2 oz.
Have you experienced any reactions? Nope.
What brand are you using or are you making your own? Making our own except the pear/ blueberry mix was Beechnut Just brand. Thought it would help with the constipation because of the pears but it was the super ripe banana that got her going!
