  • Hello!

I have two girls. They are 3.5 and almost 5 months. I have been a SAHM for about 5.5 months now. Before staying home, I worked in corporate deposit operations for a financial institution. I'm so glad to be home with them! I love food, makeup, and spending time with family!

I have one DS who turned one december 18th, I have stayed at home since getting married 2.5 years ago. I double majored in elementary education and early childhood education and was in the process of applying for jobs, after transferring my teaching license to the state I reside in, when we found out we were expecting DS.

  • I have twin 4yr old boys.... I was a SAHW for a little over a year before t h e boys were born. I had left my job at a hospice coordinating, recruiting, and training volunteers. I left because there was a change at the director level that was not positive.... basically she was unreasonable. So I left to be able to under go a IVF without stress from a job that I was burnt out from. I look forward to returning to the working world in a few years... not in hospice... currently looking at some options to see what kind of update to my education/experience I could use. Might take a class or two.

DS is 5.5 months. I became a SAHM when he was born. Before that, I worked for my stepmom's company, copying medical records for drs offices. I still work from home part time doing the same thing. I would like to go back to work eventually, but I don't know in what. I have my bachelors in child development so maybe something in the field.

What did you do before you had kids/became a sahm? I was an early intervention specialist
Anything else you would like to tell us? I actually still work part time, only about 10 hours a week coaching gymnastics. I also sell my artwork and poetry for money on the side.

  • I have one son who turned 3 months yesterday.

I have been SAHM since he was born. My leave actually stops Monday but I notified work I wouldn't be coming back full time and they didn't want part time.

Before I went on leave I was an AP team lead at a document scanning facility.

I'm scared as hell to be SAH. DH and I didn't know if we wanted kids for a long time. Now he's my responsibility almost all day and that makes me nervous. Aside from that I love to read and just about anything outdoors.

  • I have one son, he is 19 weeks.

I actually work part time (3 hrs per day) as a teacher. But...I have been lurking here because right now my life feels more like a SAHM. I have been doing this since DS was born in August.

I have been a teacher for 9 years. The last two I taught middle school History. Now I am teaching three middle school classes in the afternoon.

I have a love/hate relationship with my current situation. Some days I wish I were home full time. I kept my job to keep health insurance and because LO can attend the school I work at at age two...and I will probably want to go back to FT. I have enjoyed being home more than I thought I would, but the reality is if I weren't getting out for a few hours a day I might not like it as much.
  • How many kids do you have?

I have one biological child and two stepchildren
    Ages?

SD is 26, SS is 19 and DD turns 6 tomorrow.

How long have you been a sham?

    I have been a SAHM since 2008.

What did you do before you had kids/became a sham?

I had been a National Lobbyist for a Military Association for about 6 years when I met my DH.  He happened to be in the Air Force (we were a Match.com couple.  I did not meet him through work).  I knew going into the marriage that my career opportunities would be limited if not nil.  I was lucky enough to find an amazing job at our first joint station, but then we PCSed to FL and that was that.  It was even harder when we PCSed to Germany.

By then we had DD and physical custody of SS.  Due to the logistics and schedules and inability of SS to drive (insuring a teen in Europe was LITERALLY millions of dollars and then the state license laws of FL) AND the cost of daycare, we decided that it was best for me to stay at home.

So now I volunteer with a couple of our counties agencies, helping out with our elderly and low income constituents' insurance issues.

  • I have a totally fun 3 month old boy. I became a SAHM when he was born. Before this I did medical billing for a early intervention facility. I love to read, cook new recipes (paleo family), game of thrones and coffee! Still struggling to lower my expectations of "getting it all done" as a SAHM
  • I have 10 week old b/g twins. I was working as a dental hygienist until September. I really enjoy working out and am excited to get into a routine again. I used to play tennis and am hoping to get back into that in the spring. DH and I are from Florida but live in Chicago, desperately trying to get back to FL!
  • I have 2 kids.  DD is 6 1/2 years old and DS is 4 years old.  I was put on bed rest at 29 weeks when I was pregnant with DD, so I guess I have been home since then.  Our plan was for me to SAH after DD was born anyway.  I was a 4th grade teacher before that.
    DD~6 years old~born June 6, 2008 (1st grade)
    DS~4 years old~born November 6, 2010 (1st year of preschool)
  • I have a 6 year old DD. I have been at home for over 5 years now. I went back to work until she was about 11 months old, part time. I was a home stager. Now I do home organization on a very part time basis, some months I will do a 20 hour job, sometimes I go months in between jobs.
  • I'm a mom to DS1 who is 8, DS2 who is 7 and we are expecting our DD in May. I used to be an accountant. DH is in real estate & we live in the DC suburbs. I love to cook, enjoy all that DC has to offer, amazing food, and being able to make awesome memories for our kids!

  • My DD, C, is 5. Six this month!
My DS, H, is 10 months.
I worked at a camp for kids until H was born this past year. I currently work part time at an art museum on weekends and evenings.
In my spare time I read, create, watch way too much TV, and fill my mind with useless pop culture knowledge. I dominate at Trivia Crack.

    Anything else....
I still do very part time work staging houses that are for sale. This is awesome because it's pretty much my dream job!
Also, I was a pretty regular poster on this board for about 5 years, but have been away for a while. It's so different now. It looks slow and I don't see many of the old regulars, so I'm really wondering what happened! But I'm glad to see there is still interest and some people trying to keep it alive.
    Married 07.07.07. Mom to 3: Ruby 11/08 and Oliver & Austin 12/11
  • I have two: DS (6.5) and DD (3.5)

I've been a SAHM since just before DS was born in 2008. I used to teach high school.

I coordinate a mom group for DD, am room mom for DS's class, and volunteer for my local hospital's parenting program.

  • I have 3 kids and LO #4 is due in Feb.

    DS1 is 10
DD is going to be 8 this month
    DS2 is 5

I have been a SAHM since this past summer. We have always talked about and planned on me leaving my job but I was always hesitant to actually make the jump. Getting pregnant again seemed like prefect timing.

I previously worked for a large wholesale company in Operational Support.

I took awhile for the kids and I to get into a new routine but has been tremendously rewarding since. I always knew I was missing out on stuff while working but I never realized how much!!
  • There are a lot of former teachers on this board!
  • I would like to get to know all of you better so feel free to tell me:

What did you do before you had kids/became a sahm? I worked for a brokerage firm, I was with the company for 9 years when I left

Anything else you would like to tell us :) I'll go back to work eventually, I have a BA in sociology and my MBA in accounting, but being a receptionist in a nice quiet office sounds really nice most days.

How long have you been a sham? Since March.

What did you do before you had kids/became a sham? I worked in major gifts fundraising for a large non-profit, for 12 years just prior to deciding to SAH. Great job, great cause, interesting people (all the movers and shakers in the community) but I was ready for a change and very excited to be able to try SAH.

  • One ddr: Cora Rose a bit over 2.5 years old

Been a SAHM since she was born in April 2012.

I was an event planner for a not-for-profit company before I got pregnant...when i got pregnant I took a horrible desk job (my other job was too physical) that I quit after my maternity leave ran out....

I really struggled with the transition to SAHM in the beginning and some days I still really miss my old life....but I know for sure that what I am doing is best for her.  Also--I am not "new" to this board...but its a been a while so i have been here...I was much more active when my DD was younger (and was a lurker on the knot when I was getting married in 2010)..but I have have been trying to come on more again. :)

Other than that I guess my plans for the future are to have some more children close in age to this one, get that part over with lol. If I went back to work one day I'd want it to be in a different field

    -I've been a SAHM since May 2012.
-I worked in retail (Petsmart) and didn't want to deal with the stress while pregnant with DS. Plus DH and I had alway said agreed on me staying at home with the kiddos.
-I have a new love for getting out to go and jog 3mi. I now know what it feels like to WANT to go do that. I;m doing it for myself and the kids are learning by example. I love to try new recipes and turning not so healthy recipes into healthier ones for enjoyment. And I'm addicted to dark chocolate and coconut covered almonds from Trader Joe's (drool).

How long have you been a SAHM? I started staying home just before my son was born, so this is very new to me!
What did you do before you had kids/became SAHM? I was an English teacher. During the summers when I had more time, I was also a freelance writer. I hope to dabble in that again once my LO is a little bit bigger.
Anything else you would like to tell us :) I love to read and write, although now I only find time to read when I'm nursing. I also love to cook, although I have basically been making the same basic five recipes since my son was born because he has kept me busy. I'm very excited to be able to stay home with him while he is young.
