Weight loss after baby AND c-section

Hey guys any programs or tricks that you have had success with in weight loss post baby? I am also having a c-section so my activity is limited! I have a wedding that I am in a month and another 3 months post baby... I know nursing can help but I didn't have much luck with my first in that department! Looking for effect but healthy ways!

  • Your activity will be pretty limited the first 6 weeks post partum but you can try a girdle. It will also help you feel like your organs aren't moving around every time you get up or bend over. I'm going with a Bellefit one this time. I'm not even worried about working out until after the initial 6 weeks.

Until then, flaunt your bump and enjoy the freedom and mobility.

  • Having had 2 csections and waiting on my 3rd, I do understand your concern being unable to exercise and really be active for a good period of time. Dont stress too hard. I will be having RCS #3 on 1/28 and will be enrolling back into the weight watchers program come 2/1. I have had great sucess with WW and lost over 60 lbs over the course of a year prior to getting pregnant. Weight watchers will really help me with my food intake during the months where I cant be as active. After that I will pick up again at the gym. I dont have any "set date" to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I figure it will probably take me a good 6 months - which is just fine. Take it easy, you will get there!

  • You will be on lifting restrictions for 6 to 8 weeks, I was only allowed to hold my baby. Honestly, what the other ladies said, it's more about health for you and baby than looks.

The girdle was amazing for recovery as a comfort but it did make me look slimmer as well. Just make healthy choices, you'll be losing about 7 pounds when baby is out haha

This!! I freaked out when I took my son to the Dr 2 days after birth. I snuck on the scale and I was down 14 pounds. I know 7# 2oz was DS and I did take off my shoes, but how the heck was I down that much when I still looked huge is beyond me.

  • It's great that some weight loss programs have helped other people. But if you are wanting to breast feed, and be successful at it, I would highly discourage you from singing up for some weight loss program. Your body needs an extra 300 to 600 more calories than when you were pregnant to keep up on supply. Wait until your body is ready for exersize and eat healthy, but eat ALOT!

I blame all the fluid they give you before the surgery! Like two or three bags! I looked awful! I was down to pp weight at my two week appointment but didn't look like it and it definitely wasn't from exercise!
That's true. I delivered him vaginally, but they did pump with me fluids. I was so swollen.

  • Rest until the Dr clears you then exercise.
    Eat healthy nutritious "clean" foods.
    Drink a ton of water.
    Be patient...it takes time.

All of those other diets/shakes/juice things are BS. They might work short term but its not realistic. Start now making healthier choices..its a lifestyle change!!!
  • everyone has some great points and I wholeheartedly agree.  Having had a csec, make sure you're healed as to not reinjure ur incision.  I started off with walks and after 2 months was able to hit the gym again but carefully.

Water and rest are your best friends for 6 weeks.  Caring for a newborn with an incision is no joke...rest and enjoy hunkering down!

Weight Watchers has a special program for nursing mothers, so everything is adjusted while you are bfing. It really is a good option for people who struggle with weight and want to make a lifestyle change once baby is out.

Weight watchers is a good program to join even if breastfeeding. They add extra points for breastfeeding mothers bc they know that extra calories are needed.

  • I've heard girdles help you lose weight. I've never had a c-section, or given birth ever so, I don't know if having a tight fitting girdle on after surgery is a good idea. I'd talk to my doctor before I decided to wear one or do anything else to lose weight. You just spent 9 months gaining this weight. It will not just magically fall off, it's going to take time.
  • This is my third c section and the girdle helped me tremdously. I didn't use it for my first and it took awhile for my stomach to go back to normal. My second with the girdle it went down much faster

  • Please don't have this be your biggest worry after baby comes. Seriously, you are going to have way more on your plate.
Walk with baby when you can, eat healthy and don't skimp on eating. Your body will need lots of calories to make milk.

But does not help with weight loss. Obviously.

  • Any breast weight I gain is more than welcome to stay forever.  You hear that, tits?
  • Just drink lots of water & eat healthy. Mom jeans were made for hiding love handles anyway
