Pregnant after 35

Age 40 Overweight

Seeing the doc tomorrow. I assume based on my age, weight and last pregnancy I will be "high risk". Kind of wondering what to expect as a "high risk". Anyone have any information for me. My last pregnancy (10 years ago), I was on bedrest from week 32-37 due to pre-term labor and had my daughter at week 37.

  • It all just depends on your dr and your circumstances. Good luck and welcome!

  • Welcome and congrats! I agree with pp.  I'm high risk because of my history of loss.. not necessarily my age.  It depends on what your history is and what your physician thinks.

  • I will be two weeks shy of 40 when this lo is born and no one has considered me high risk. I'm also overweight. My other pregnancies were normal, but I wouldn't assume you are high risk - wait and see what the doctor says!
  • I'm obese, 40 years old (41 if I make it close to due date), have GD and am being monitored for high BP, but my regular OB has not considered me high risk...at least not yet.

  • Ok I jumped the gun - I thought over 35 you were already considered high risk and that along with my past pregnancy and my additional weight would make it so but maybe not. I need a nutritionist I think to help me through this. Thanks ladies for your responses. I am hoping for a good doc visit today.
