Anyone else with a destructive child?

Delaney has apparently learned how to destroy the house without being able to walk. So far this morning, she has ripped the mobile from her activity mat along with all the other attachments, ripped the mirror from her pack and play, and is currently working on removing the toys from her exersaucer. She also has a new thing where when I change her she grabs my shirt and tries to rip it from my body....all the while with maniacal screaming.

Anyone else have a child that is probably going to destroy their house once they can use their legs?

  • She also shoves her feet in her mouth now and hangs upside down. Maybe I just have a weird kid.

  • DD grabs and pulls at everything.  The other day she grabbed hold of the flower stand off of the grass drying stand as we walked by and a bunch of pump parts went tumbling to the ground.  She also tries to tear things apart, especially anything that is fabric.  She will be breaking and destroying things in no time.
Oh, and she hits all her toys on the ground now, repeatedly.

  • Oh my gosh, yes @cdseno, the face grabbing with the razor nails! She usually goes for my eyes or mouth. So far I have always gotten my eyes closed on time, but then she holds on to the skin under my eyes, ouch

  • I have a permanent bruise on my shoulder for about three weeks now where LO bites me.
  • addysmama222 have you seen this going around Facebook?  Your comment about Addy waking you up by trying to pull your lips off made me think of it -

  • My DS tried to eat his one year old cousin, who happens to be his size haha he was grabbing at him so hard and doing his monster scream with his mouth open ready to gnaw on him!! I was laughing but worried for the future of play dates.

  • My DS is throwing things like his rattles and various other small toys and he has incredible aim. He also like to grab your neck when your holding him and dig his nails in; DH gets looks at work because of the red marks on his neck and then has to explain it his DS and not something else.
  • The only thing(s) my LO is effectively destroying is my boobs. :disappointed:
    You and me both
    Yup.

He's also dousing every single shirt that actually fits me in spit-up. I think he has it in for my washing machine.
  • The baby no, but I'm sure she will be hell on wheels some day.

The toddler and pre-schooler yes, their favorite activity is to stab Styrofoam with butter knives, it used to be coloring on the wall, and before that it was intentionally spilling milk on the floor.  Just when I have something under control, they find a new way to wreak havoc.

    Butter knives???!!!!!
  • I think I'd be padlocking the silverware drawer. What if they got ahold of a fork or steak knife?
  • The face grabbing and and shrieking and nose eating! She's a monster!
  • I also can't warn people fast enough who wear glasses-those things are flying across the room before I can even say "wait whoa watch your face oh no I'll pay for those"
