Harry Potter World

Good morning! Since there was so much HP love in the "about you" thread, I'm curious if any of you gals had been to the Harry Potter world in FL with your families? This will likely be the first vacation we will take since our little boy was born. How old were your kids? How did they do? Did you find it fun as an adult, too? It looks awesome!

  • I haven't yet. I feel like they are always adding something new, so I want to wait until it's more complete. But the waiting is so hard. 8->

  • We thought about going there last spring and I found this site to be very helpful when it came to planning a vacation to Universal Orlando.

  • I took my sister for her birthday this year because we are both huge HP dorks. Just us, no kids. It was awesome. My kids aren't ready yet - oldest DS is 7 but had only read the first book and (sadly) isnt yet into it like some of his friends. There are only a few rides, and most of the fun is the experience - reading the signs, getting the inside jokes, just walking around, etc. I don't think it would be super fun or interesting to younger kids who aren't very familiar with it. I mean, they would have fun but not get 80% of what the HP geeks are loving. I highly recommend it for an adult birthday weekend, though :) From DS's peers it seems like 8+ is prime HP age.

  • I'm so glad I stumbled across this thread. I need more Harry Potter fans in my life. I have not gone but I plan to one of these days. Hopefully it will still be there by the time we can afford to go.
  • We went before kids.  It was awesome but honestly, I really don't think there is much for real small children to do there.  Universal studios as a whole is geared towards families with older kids I think.  (at least 6 or 7 I would say).  We are actually going to Disney next year (DD will be almost 4 and DS will be 1) but we are skipping Universal and Harry Potter because I really don't think they'll be able to do much and I think it will be kind of a waste with such young kids.
