Meditation or music recommendations

hi all, hope everyone is doing great. DW is 6 days from her due date and we're working on a playlist for when she begins labor. We're also interested in downloading some kind of meditation or breathing exercises to focus on. Any recommendations?

No music recs - I didn't want any music - but I think Circle + Bloom has a healthy birth guided meditation. I haven't heard it but used their IVF and healthy pregnancy recordings and found them very relaxing.

I think Hypnobirthing may have some options too. My doula gave us a hypnobirthing CD, but I didn't use it. Just an anecdote - during my childbirth class, the instructor played some music while we were practicing pain coping techniques (while holding ice) and I realized that the loud, faster paced music actually helped me. Initially I thought that I wanted all calming, meditation like music. As my instructor said, it can help to have music that matches the intensity of the contractions. So, you may want to have some different types of music ready to go. Katy Perry's Roar was a personal favorite at the time.

I had two playlists... One was a sentimental mix that I had listened to from 35 weeks (once the baby could recognize songs in the womb...). I listened to it all night before completion. When we got to pushing I listened to my half marathon playlist. It helped a lot (I am happy to share if you would like). And the midwife sang along with a lot of it

I also listened to the hypnobirthing meditation thought pregnancy and it did me no good when I went into labor... But that is just my experience!

S put together 2 absolutely amazing playlists for our wedding, one for the cocktail hour and one for dancing. We listened to those (mostly the cocktail hour one) while in my never-ending labor. We got a lot of compliments and "Thanks for the awesome soundtrack" comments from the nurses. It was actually really comforting to me to hear something so familiar during such an unfamiliar process.

By the time I got to pushing, I was totally zoned out and I have no idea what (if anything) was on. I think March Madness Basketball was on tv in the background. Appropriate (for us).

Thanks everyone! I was wondering about the more upbeat stuff, I think my wife would really like that. It would probably also be a little bit of a distraction because she can't help but get into it when she hears her favorite songs.

Were you guys listening on headphones or did you bring something to plug into? I was thinking of bringing a very small bluetooth speaker... but it doesn't stay charged very long so not sure that's the best idea.

I listened to slow songs through headphones, but for pushing, we listened to music through the phone speakers. That did the trick for us! I love music, and don't think I could have done it without some good jams!

Through speakers. My wife was in charge of all things music, so I'm not sure if she played through her phone or brought the portable speaker. I don't think I would liked headphones, but probably smart to have both options available. Bring chargers too!

Where are you planning to birth? Many hospitals and birth centers these days have docks for iPods, iPhones, etc in the rooms. I'd check with them before going out of your way to bring anything (your bag will be full enough, I'm sure).
