Baby hates being worn!!

ok ladies, I need your input. I have tried the Moby and the Beco Gemini and Alistair HATES both. Like HATES. He's been a low-cry baby this far, but as soon as I put him in a carrier he starts to wail and scream until I take him out and put him back in his bouncy seat or car seat. I would love to wear him around the house to do chores or to the store but he won't have it! Anyone else have this issue and any tips?

  • Maybe I need to just give it a minute and try to walk around. I think I just panic because he gets so upset. I also wonder if the Gemini isn't a little big for him, and it doesn't have an infant insert.

  • My little likes her carrier I guess. She just falls asleep in it. What about putting him in it then sitting and rocking him maybe?? Mine loves to be on my chest and falls asleep instantly. Maybe he won't notice as much when you stand back up.

  • My LO hates carriers too. We've tried the Bolboa Baby sling, Boba wrap, and a Mei Tai carrier. She screams as soon as I put her in. My trick is to rock her to sleep first then put her in.
  •  My baby now is the first one I've had who would actually let me carry her!

My others hated them all, every kind I ever tried. Sorry, no advice-they were happy to go around the house with me in the bouncy chair (I just moved it around) and were happy in the stroller for outings. They were content and seemed to enjoy being involved in daily activities this way, so it's what I went with.

Baby now is just different as far as personality I guess.
  • I had the boba at first and Eliana couldn't stand it! I switched to the K'Tan recently because I heard it's amazing for tiny moms (I'm 4'11 and the boba drowned me), and she loves it. She'll scream sometimes (she's low cry too, but very opinionated) when I first put her in, but if I walk around rubbing her back, she calms eventually. Have you tried moving immediately after putting her in? The K'tan might be good, because you just slip the baby into a pocket, cover him/her with the other side, and tie a sash around your waist for extra support. You don't have to put the baby through straps or a long tying process, which is good if your baby is already anxious about being worn.
  • @lizgrace03 - No advice as we haven't done much baby wearing but I have a question about the Gemini.  Does it snap up between the legs or do you have to slide the baby into it?  I'm looking for a good carrier for LO once she gets her special boots for her club feet - she will have a bar that connects the feet so something that can be snapped up between the legs instead of sliding her in would work best.  Thanks!

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one with a fussy baby when she first gets in the carrier. I usually bounce her a little and use her pacifier. Most times she passes out and I can get stuff done. I even wore her around home depot yesterday when I discovered I'd left the stroller in the garage. A simple sling (jelly bean and peanut shell) has been most successful so far though I've also used the k'tan. I've got a stack to try, passed on by friends.
  • LO loves the Moby as long as someone else is wearing it

Ok I double checked online and I actually have the Beco Soleil not the Gemini- my bad. I think the Soleil would work well for you and Claire. You don't slide the baby in. You hold them in place and buckle the side straps around them if that makes sense. It's a little tough at first because you have to hold the baby with one hand while doing the buckle but it's not bad once you get used to it... Does that help? It has a stomach strap you buckle first around you, then you hold the baby and strap them in. I hope that makes sense!

  • Okay, so I'm no expert on carriers as I just got my Boba on Saturday, but William often cries a lot when I first put him in too. Usually I put him in it and then go for a quick walk around the block with the dog and he's asleep within minutes. Then I'm usually able to get at least an hour, sometimes two! I know this doesn't help make him like it more, but it helps get shit done.
Do you put him in it in a frog-like position (knees up and chest-to-chest with you)?  Maya loves the moby, and would definitely sleep in it for at least an hour, but I get so concerned with her positioning! i feel like she is squished!

  • @missnacholover‌ if there is a bar that goes between LOs legs then the Gemini won't work for you. You lay her on your chest and bring the croch piece up between the legs.

That's what I want though - I don't want to have to take off her bar.  The bar connects at the feet so there is room to work with if we can bring the carrier up between her legs. This is what it will look like:
