Do babies dream?

Whenever Will smiles in his sleep, or wakes up suddenly crying, DH will say "He must be having a good dream/He had a bad dream." Googling gives me different theories - Babies as young as ours don't dream yet, but they are processing new information during REM sleep, They do dream but their dreams are silent or non-verbal.

What do you think/know/have heard on this? Should I make a little baby dreamcatcher to hang on Will's bassinet? Dreams are so interesting!

I googled this when LO was younger. The internet (I forget what site) says yes. This made my husband very upset as she would wake upset and startled a lot. The site I saw mentioned that they can dream about bad experiences like being lonely or hungry. And the good ones too.

I imagine my LO dreaming of endless amounts of milk just pouring into her mouth with no effort needed on her part.

We always joke that he is probably dreaming about boobs or his bink when he smiles in his sleep, since those are his two favorite things.

I don't know what Will was dreaming of yesterday morning, but it must have been awful. He woke up making a sound I had never heard out of him. It was a very loud, panicked WAH WAH WAH like an air raid siren. I felt so bad for him!
