I think I need to cut my hair off. Every couple years I just get the itch for short hair. But I have never really found the perfect cut. I have had a few that I liked, but I'm really not sure what exactly to do with my hair.
I have really really thick, straight hair. I like it long because I throw it into a ponytail or bun every day. But if I want to wear it down I need to blow dry, then straighten, and I have soooo much hair it takes for.ever.
It's also so thick that it limits what I can do with it short too. Too sort or too many layers, and I get a puffball on top of my head.
Also, my hair is starting to fall out from my last pregnancy. Should I cut it now or wait a few months?
Any thoughts, suggestions, or websites for suggestions?

Re: I need hair help.
But it also makes it a weird texture that's hard to explain. Like its stiff, but fluffy. If I just blow dry it, I can't put my hair behind my ear for example. It won't stay. Straightening it makes it softer and smoother, and more flexible. Or something.
Do I just need some kind of product or something? I really don't know about these things. This is why I need help.
My favorite shorter cut was an asymmetric bob: short in the back with long asymmetric layers in the front.
@Bmore I actually had a cut like that is college that I loved. The woman who cut it couldn't duplicate it when I went back for a trim she messed it up, and then it was a PITA to grow out because it was so asymmetrical. Also I was looking for a picture of it, and in every single picture of me from then, my hair is all in my face.
Also I don't think I'm cool enough to pull that off any more.
I'd leave it be for a while and revisit the idea of cutting it all off in a month or two?
Like this:
@mrshudson618 I can't imagine having to do my hair with two little ones running around. Haddock hardly gives me time to do mine
Also, I think your hair looks pretty in that bun! My hair is pretty fine so your hair is amazing to me
Thinning shears are awesome if you want to decrease the thickness and weight of your hair
I would recommend that you ask around and find a stylist that you really like. It really helps to have someone you trust who understands the texture and needs of your hair. That way when you want to make changes and/or don't like something you'll feel comfortable going to them. Mine is seriously like my therapist!
Also I'm with @bmore721 it's all about the right product. I really like the Aveda smoothing line (I think this is what is called) and Paul Mitchel Super Skinny Serum.
