  • @GrailSeeker14 - Thanks for running this check in for so long.  I can take over if no one else offers, but here are my warnings:  I have a terrible memory & a bad track record with the FTM check-in I've been running on PAIF (mostly on Thursdays, but really whenever I remember), and even though I have a late EDD, I'm preparing for the possibility of having very premature babies, so I don't know how long I'd be around - but I know you're ready to pass the torch.

AFM - After 9 dry days, I've been leaking amniotic fluid on and off since NYE.  A scan with my MFM showed low fluid for baby A, so I checked in to the hospital on Friday, and here I sit.  I am 23w5d today, and when I hit 24w, I can start steroids - Yippee!  (Between the HGH I took during stims for this IVF cycle, and the steroids I plan to start this week, I should probably sign up for the Tour de France this year).

QOTW:  I'd like to say a cat, just b/c I'm a crazy cat lady, but I've never had their grace.  I'm more like a klutzy mutt dog with a short attention span *squirrel!*

  • @GrailSeeker14‌ I don't mind taking over, I love our check ins! Or im happy to be @AMShark‌ back up, should she need help. Either way I'm more than happy to help.
  • @AMShark Im sorry to hear that your fluid began to leak again, but glad that you seem to be in good hands at the hospital.  Hang in there, Im sure its not easy and you and babies are in my thoughts.

Not much new on my part. 27 weeks today! I had my GTT today.  It wasn't so bad, but the drink made me feel a little nauseated for a few minutes after I drank it. FX that the results are good.  I have an OB appt next week.  My back has been really achy lately, as well as my lower belly if i stand for too long.

QOTW:  THIS IS A HARD ONE!  Im going to go with a dog, because Im loving, loyal and sincere.  Also, I have no patience.

  • @GrailSeeker14‌: I can relate to the bladder bounce house.  Baby A is sitting firmly on mine, and when about anytime she moves, I have to pee.  Have fun at the classes, I enjoyed them first time around :)

@AMShark‌: Sorry to hear you are leaking fluid again... Any idea as to how long you have to be there?  Do you have some good books to read while you're there?  Any hobbies to keep you occupied?  Prayers that the time goes by stress-less for you and you are able to go home sooner than later, and babies are ok.

Seachele98: Sorry to hear that the GTT drink made you feel sick. Hope you feel better soon.  I also hope you're able to find positions that you can be comfortable in... back pain is no fun :(

AFM, I had my GTT on Friday.  Nothing eventful there.  Thankfully the drink didn't make me sick or anything.  I spent the hour wait working on a crochet baby hat and listening to an audio book :)  I'm continuing to get bigger and bigger... at work this week, most people whom I haven't seen in two weeks due to the holidays exclaim "wow, you're really getting big!" when they seem me.  Just what every woman wants to hear, right?  That is of course followed up with "when are you due again?" because I look more like I'm 34w+ rather than my actual 25w4d due to twins.  I try to just smile and answer the questions.  I know folks aren't trying to be mean.  All that said, I'm starting to get concerned about what kind of clothes I'm going to be wearing down the line.  Thank goodness my husband is a giant (6'6", 350+lb), so there are plenty of men's size 4x shirts - ha!  They'll still be too big on me, right?  RIGHT???

Speaking of DH, he's doing better... he finally went into the office today for the first time since foot surgery (had been working from home).  He's still non weight bearing (although he cheats at home) and took his knee scooter so it is easier for him to get around in the office (crutches suck!).  We're hoping that at his follow up appointment on 1/19 he'll be OK'd for weight bearing.  In the meanwhile, he's still trying to work on getting our garage purged and cleaned (it is horrible) by sitting and going through boxes and bins out there so we can continue prepping as best we can to start the girls' room.

Sweet moment of the week is DS... he's started to kiss my belly and tell his sisters "I'm Lucas, and I'm your big brudder!"  <swoon>

QOTW:  I think I'd have to go with cat too... all I really WANT to do is lay around, eat, poop, sleep, and am annoyed when I can't have my way.  I also only want to be touched when I want to be touched and if you try to pet me otherwise, the claws come out!

  • @yarnymommy - Glad to hear DH is back to work.  It must feel good for him to get out of the house.

AFM - I'm not sure how long I'll be staying.  Before the frequent leaks started up, there was talk of sending me back to home bed rest if the leak seals itself down the line.   The talk now is more along the lines of "Get settled - you'll be here until the babies come."

I have clearance from my doctor to work on my computer, so that kills more than 8 hours each day. I also have some books, a lot of puzzles, and I've started knitting a rainbow baby blanket.  (I cast on 130 stitches the other day, and then realized I'd made the tail too long, and the first row too tight, and had to start over - but its slowly taking shape now).

  • @AMShark: You'll have to post a pic of your blanket!  I've started crocheting one myself... the goal was to make 2 for each girl, total of 4.  We'll see if that actually happens :)  I personally like to crochet and listen to audio books... two birds, one stone!

Ohh.... audio books.  That's a great idea - they're even free at my library.  I'll see if I can get my mom to pick some up for me.

I will post a picture when I've gotten to at least the second color.  If it comes out really well, I'll have to order a second set of yarn to make a matching blanket for each baby.  If I mess it up big time, I'll probably order more yarn just to try it again.  Either way, I've got the time (or, at least, I hope to).

  • @GrailSeeker14 - glad that things are uneventful! I hear you on carrying low - the aches and bladder dancing that baby is doing are part of my life these days, too! I'm sorry I haven't offered to help with the check-ins, but I'm in my busy season for work through April 15th (assuming baby doesn't come early), so I may not be around much.

@AMshark - I'm sorry about your leaking fluid. Fingers crossed that the next two days pass quickly so you can get started on those steroids! You'll have to post a pic of the finished product when you wrap up the baby blanket.

@seachele98 - I have the drink for my 1 hour test in my fridge, and I'm already worried about how it's going to go down! Guess my fear of it making me nauseous is justified. I'll be sending you positive vibes for good results!

@yarnymommy - so glad to hear that your DH is getting around better! And your comment about your DS just about melted my heart - so, so sweet!

AFM, not much is new these days, although my heartburn seems to have gotten a little better (knock on wood). I started physical therapy last week for the hip pain I've been having and it already feels about 100x better. If any of you are having back/hip pain, I highly recommend trying physical therapy! The stretches and exercises they gave me are super easy, but are making a world of a difference.

DH finished painting the trim in the baby's room, so we painted the nursery walls this weekend and it looks amazing! We went with Palladian Blue from Benjamin Moore (I was seeing it all over Pinterest and needed to give it a shot), and it's perfect. Should be easy to decorate in a more gender specific way once baby arrives.

QOTW: the last two weeks I was very cat like. Now that I'm back at work and our busy time is starting, I'd guess I'm more like a lion (the mom lion that picks up her cubs by the scruff of their necks). I'll be needing to keep my team on track to make sure things get done as early as possible, just in case baby shows up early.

  • Good luck to everyone doing their Glucose tests!  I hope you all feel OK and get good results.  We still have a couple weeks before ours.  The good thing is that we also have an ultrasound that day.  I guess I take my Glucose solution, go to my ultrasound and then get my blood drawn.  I like this idea since it will take my mind off of the test.

@GrailSeeker14 I hope you enjoy your birthing class!  DH and I liked ours and found it to be pretty beneficial.  I think we are forgoing a class this time around.

@AMShark I hope the leaks stop soon.  It is good to know you are getting so very close to the viability range.  It sounds like you are in good hands.  Take it easy!!  :)

@yarnymommy I am glad DH is doing better and that your babies seem to be doing well.  Your DS sounds so sweet.  I have been cherishing the moments like that with DD too.  They will be such good siblings!

AFM - I am also getting a little more sore and achy.  Unfortunately DD is starting to want more babying as well.  She is almost 4 and 30+ lbs. and has been wanting me to carry her to bed "like a baby."  I think she is trying to get her ME time in as much as possible before her brother comes.  I can't blame her!

QOTW: Man.  This is a  hard one.  I agree with all of the Cats in my current pregnancy state (sleeping, eating and back rubs are all I want!).  I would say for my normal self that I would be more like a dog.  I love to be active (Hiking & running) and I love to be around people.  I am very affectionate and loyal as well.

  •  Hi everyone! Lots of Glucose tests going on here! Mine is in a few weeks!

@AMShark So sorry to hear your fluid is leaking again. I hope those babies stay put for a while longer.

@Grailseeker14 I have been feeling a lot of pressure low as well. It hurts to walk!

AFM, I have been looking for a possible alternate doctor because my SIL doesn't think my hospital is equipped to deliver my baby and save me from possible hemmorage. I used a service at work for a second opinion and they suggested a doctor in my practice that I already go to so it looks like my work there is done.

QOTD: I feel like a sloth and move like a turtle!

  • @GrailSeeker14‌ Glad you're doing well! GL at your appointment! I'd volunteer for check in duties too, this is one of my favorites! :)

@AMShark‌ I'm sorry the fluid is leaking again. I'm glad they've been keeping such a close watch on you and that your babies stay put for awhile! Also, I would describe myself as a crazy cat lady too! We only have two, with a possible third after baby is here. I tell my H (and anyone else) if I wasn't married to my H I'd have 10 cats!

@Seachele98‌ GL at your appointment! Sorry you've had back pain, I have too and it's no fun!

@yarnymommy‌ Glad your H is doing better; also your DS sounds so cute!

@baby_blessings‌ I'm sorry you've been emotional lately! I could've written a very similar sentence about the GD test. I was reading that women with PCOS are at higher risk for having it and it just makes me very nervous. I really want to do everything perfectly this pregnancy that is best for the baby and I feel like if I have it I will be so upset. Hugs!

@CaterinaC‌ Sorry for your diagnosis but glad it helps you feel better! How did we know you'd pick penguin!? :)

@keifekm‌ Your DD sounds so sweet!

@jlb902‌ Sorry your SIL had you worried but glad that your doctors are already the ones that are recommended. Love the sloth!

AFM, I'm doing well overall; back to school this week and it's been hard! I'm already exhausted and it's only Tuesday! At least my students are still tired out and act very mellow at the moment!

I had a check-up the other day and everything went well. When the dr went to get the heartbeat with the Doppler I could feel baby moving away from the wand. She couldn't get a good heartbeat measurement so she was trying to reposition it. Then, he kicks right at where the wand was! She says, "I'm sure you felt that because I felt that! He really doesn't like this!" She did get a good heartbeat but it made me think that he must be able to hear well! I also noticed lots of movement when we went to the movies last week. I felt bad like I was scaring him, so I put my coat over my belly trying to muffle the sounds!

I've been having some sharp back pain lately and it's starting to be more often. If I turn quickly, or move suddenly it feels like a pinch/sharp pain. My nausea still comes and goes, nothing too bad though. I have been extra emotional this week, I was crying watching NCIS! My sister said she is planning me a shower and I'm getting really excited for it too!

QOTW: I think I would describe myself as a cat (yay cat lovers!) because I'm very independent, and I enjoy snuggling on the couch. I could also see myself being an elephant because I have a really good memory and they are very emotional animals.

  • Hey ladies!!!

I had a check-up yesterday and everything looks great still.  I have my Glucose test in 2 weeks and will have another u/s in 3.  Anyone else having another u/s!?  I'm not going to complain!!!  I love seeing my boy <3  He said they are going to check growth, fluid, and cervical length (due to past leep procedure).

My back has been killing me lately and I'm having trouble getting comfortable in bed.  I have a tempurpedic mattress and actually think it's making things a little worse because there isn't much give to it.

@Grailseeker14 - I can totally relate to the bladder pillow, as I believe my son uses mine too for the same lol. There are times when I'm just sitting here feeling him move and all the sudden have this strong urge to pee!!

@AMShark - I'm sorry to hear your fluid is leaking on and off again :(  I'm sure hospital bed rest sucks, but I'm glad you'll get the monitoring you need to hopefully keep baby in there as long as possible!

  • Hi Ladies! I always love reading everyone's updates here. :x

@CaterinaC - Sorry you have HG, but good that you have officially been diagnosed. Does it ever end during pregnancy?

@AMShark - ((hugs)) So sorry you're dealing with the continued leaking. Drink up, sister!! Audio books sound great.

I had a scary day today. I thought there might have been a little spotting this am when I first peed, so I put a liner on, which allowed me to confirm the TINIEST amount of blood...right before I went in to a 2 hour meeting for which attendance and full concentration was absolutely mandatory. That was a long meeting!!! It ended up just being a few drops, and didn't look like real period-type bleeding. It was the sort of thing you'd expect if you cut yourself shaving, but LOL, that hasn't happened. I called the nurse who said not to worry about it so long as it doesn't get any worse, and it hasn't. I've been having a lot of nosebleeds recently--just minor when I blow my nose--so I guess it's part and parcel of the same thing, specifically increased blood flow. TERRIFYING, but hopefully nothing.

Otherwise this is an eventful week: first "natural"childbirth class yesterday, first midwives' appt on Thursday, followed by the first official planning meeting with the doula. I still have my appt with the OBs for later this month, which would involve the GTT test and some other bloodwork, and I may keep it if the midwives say they don't routinely test those things. You ladies sound like you're having so much fun with those drinks!!

QOTW: I never know what to say to this sort of question. I guess I'm just lame. L-)

  • I had my glucose test on Friday.  My doctor only does the fasting test with 3 blood draws.  I wasn't excited about the blood draws since I know how bad my veins are after going through IVF.  The drink is not nearly as bad as I was thinking.  I did get light headed mid-morning since I had to fast.  My bad news is that I failed the test.  I actually passed the fasting and barely passed the one hour test, but failed the 2nd hour test.  Failure = failure.  Next stop is a 2 hour workshop Thursday at maternal fetal.  I also failed the iron test, so now I'm on an iron supplement.  I was disappointed hearing all of the news yesterday, but then put it in perspective that I want a healthy, full-term baby.  I told DH, I started this whole thing out with a bunch of prick, so I guess I can end that way too (I'm guessing finger pricks will be much better than those butt shots!)

The good things from the past week:  (1) we totally redid the upstairs guest bathroom to be a kids bathroom and it is so cute!  (2) I found a lady on Etsy (love Etsy) who is making a custom crib mobile that matches the bedding for the same price as standard ones on Amazon.  I'm excited!  (3) keep finding my DH in the baby section of stores picking out little girl clothes.  It makes my heart melt to see his excitement.

QOTW:  I don't know, but I just asked DH.  He said I would be a grizzly bear (because of the noises I make when stretching in the morning.  By the way, he does it now too.)  Or, he said a cute little puppy who just want to lie there and look cute.
  • Hi all

@AMShark I am so sorry to hear you are back in the hospital and the leaking started again.  I am praying for you and your babies.   Your outlook and positivity is amazing.  I hope your blankets turn out wonderful.

@pblge I'm sorry you had to go through that scare, I hope that you don't experience any more spotting spells.  They really are terrifying.  :(

ASF:  I am 27 weeks today :)  2 weeks ago the nausea came back and it hasn't left, just gotten worse.  I really cut down on meal size to see if that helped, but nope.

We have our OB appt today, I should be scheduled this week for the GTT test, last time he ordered a metabolic panel.  I have done a 2 hour before during all the infertility testing and it wasn't bad.  I got used to getting stuck a lot.

Tomorrow we have a breastfeeding class and Friday we have a growth scan.  We should have 2 more growth scans after this.  It's the one benefit of all the trouble it took for us to get pregnant, I get to see her a lot.

DH has been working really hard on the basement and has my closet finished.  It's huge!  I love it.  Only bad thing is for some reason the switches and ceiling light fixtures aren't working and he hasn't figured that out yet, all the regular outlets he had to put in work, so he's pretty frustrated.  After this week, we will move our focus to Hayley's room, which should take a week.

We got a new camera, the Nikon 1 V3.  I'm debating if I like it enough to keep it or send it back and get the Canon 70D.  It's really small, it takes amazing photos, but when I was first playing with it, it was making my hand hurt, so maybe being small isn't a bonus.  DH has a very very nice Nikon DSLR they bought for work, so he is going to bring that home so I can play with both  over the weekend and see which I really like shooting with the most.

We also traded in DH's truck for a new one last week so I would be able to more easily put Hayley and her car seat in the back of it.  Since we have such a long commute to work, DH will be taking the mazda to work most days leaving me with the truck.  It was on our list to do eventually, and our other one had almost 200K miles on it.

QOTW:  I am a cat, so much a cat.  Though I'd probably either be a totally spoiled house cat that only accepts on attention on her own terms, like my Shiver, or a snow leopard.  I love snow, running, hiking, and seclusion and being alone.  And they have the most awesome tails.

    All Welcome

  • Hi Ladies, I want to send creepy internet hugs to everyone, it's been a long road for many of us and now we are moving into the last stretch. >:D< Positive vibes @AMshark, we are all thinking about you.
Not to much to report, I'm 26w 2d, feeling bigger and not as comfortable as I was before the holidays, sleeping seems to be non existent, I'm constantly moving to try to find a comfortable spot. My nausea has seemed to have returned. No idea why, but hopefully it will pass quickly.
No appointments this week, next week I have everything. Glucose test, growth scan, OB app. With the holidays it's been 5 weeks since I've been seen for anything. I'm really looking forward to seeing our little guy.
Aw moment, the nursery is complete finished. My DH even went out and bought jumbo Lego, and a wooden train set to fill the toy chest. (He is beyond excited)

If I was any animal I would be a bird. I like to free to try new things, new places etc. I'll book things like vacations, concerts, theatre, I love new experiences and the enjoy of discovering new things. Opposite to my DH, who breaks out in hives over any sort of change.
  • I have my 28 week appointment a week from today. Not much else to report. I've still been having contractions off and on for the past couple of weeks, which has really freaked me out, but my OB said my cervix is closed and that they're just BH contractions. Sometimes they really hurt though, like really bad menstrual cramps, but I'm trying not to worry about it.

QOTW: Right now I would say a turtle bc time is moving slowly and it seems to take forever for me to get anything done.
  • @GrailSeeker14‌ I'm sorry you had such a stressful appointment! I too am starting to worry about leaking! TMI, we had sex the other day and ever since I've been worrying about leaking and it seems like once I start to worry about something I can't let it go! Ugh, hope you feel better!

@stranzm‌ I'm sorry about your tests. I hope everything goes smoothly for the rest of the pregnancy. I love all your happy points of the week! especially about your H! I think seeing my H so excited just makes me love him so much more!

@Alicia_R1‌ GL at all your upcoming appointments! GL figuring out which camera to keep! We plan on getting a new one before baby comes too!

@taahira‌ GL at your appointments next week! congrats on finishing the nursery! ours is barely started, haha!

@Haley612‌ Sorry about the contractions! at least your OB is being good about checking up on everything.

  • GrailSeeker14 -- isn't the mattress thing strange!? You'd think something that is supposed to conform to your body would be awesome...but mine just doesn't have enough give!  I also sleep better on my $300 spare room mattress than I do on my fancy one, but I suck it up most of the time because I'm one who really likes to fall asleep next to DH.  I do have a pillow top that I'm going to try and see if that extra cushion helps!
