edited January 2015 in TTC After a Loss

This is a check-in for anyone who had a loss or an EDD in May (of any year).  I will post every other week. After the first week please do  not bump the thread up. If you are having a rough time feel free to PM me. >:D<

I am so sorry for each one of your losses. I hope that this can be a place to give support and help each other through this difficult time. Members, give us an update on how you are doing. If I didn’t tag you with specific questions, it’s only because we didn’t hear from you last week (or for a few weeks) - please jump back in. Please pop in and let us know how you’re doing even if you don’t have time to respond to everyone individually this week! New members, introduce yourself so that we can get to know you.

If you get a BFP, please PM me and let me know so that we can congratulate you on PgAL. I try to lurk on PgAL often, but sometimes it’s tough and I might miss it. Please send me a PM also if you are taking a Bump Break.

  • Hi @Km380 :) how was your appt today? I was just looking for an update before I go to bed. Hope it went well!

I should O this week, so DH and I have been getting busy ;) Not traveling for work anymore makes planning a lot easier!

I've been feeling optimistic lately and trying to relax more. I am busy planning our Thailand vacation, so that's been keeping me occupied. We'll see what happens the next few cycles.

QOTW: to work on reducing stress and to continue staying healthy (exercising, eating healthy most of the time). Nothing too radical.

Hope you ladies had a Happy New Year! (((Hugs))) to all of you!

  • Hi ladies! Happy New Year!! I had a fun day today (sarcasm font!) I had bloodwork and ultrasound with the RE this morning. Found out my insurance is trying to screw me. Again. And I had my HSG this afternoon. Be jealous lol.
The good news - HSG is clear! Ute and tubes look good. Everything at the RE looked good too so tonight is the beginning of estrogen injects. I have a circle "target" on each side for MH to know where to go. Should make for good conversation in the gym locker room. Ha. Ha.

QOTW - It's sort of silly but, snuggle with mh more. We often find ourselves on separate couches watching tv. And the usual eat better, lose weight, exercise, focus on the positives in our lives.

  • @Km380 Ugh, insurance.  But that's great about your good appointment today!  So many FX for you.

    @alm288 Have fun this week.
    ;)

My week was ok.  A lot of shopping trying to get gear for our C&O trip!  It's amazing how fast gear adds up.  But at least they will be one time expenses.
I'm feeling better with the turning of the new year.  We will keep trying for a while because we still have some hope, but I'm not sure how long the optimism will last.  We are making plans for the future without thinking "Oh, but what if I'm pregnant at that point.."

QOTW: more biking!  And more romance.  TTC sucks the romance out of a marriage too much.
We met in middle school. We got married 15 years later in a February blizzard of 2010.

  • @Km380 We are going in March!  It comes with the unfortunate timing of all the water pumps at the hiker/biker campsites being non-functional until late April, so our gear will be much heavier with water!
But with our anniversary in February and this being our anniversary trip...well we didn't want to delay it more than a month!

  • @km380 thanks for the check-in. Sorry about the insurance BS. So frustrating. Glad the HSG looked normal. Keep us updated.

    @Menrandes‌ your trip sounds amazing!

@linkloveszelda26‌ sorry the holidays were tough but glad you're excited for the new year.

@alm288 FX for O and Thailand also sounds amazing! When are you going? MH and I are hoping to do a combined trip to Vietnam/Thailand this year.

I had my IUI on 1/3 with 20 million motile sperm post wash and my temps are looking like I O'd when they said I would (somehow I have a hard time trusting). So yeah, back in the TWW. Waiting a couple of days to start testing out the trigger.

Otherwise back to work as normal. I'm giving a big talk this Friday so have been pretty consumed with that. Everything is still going well to close and move into our new house 1/29. Definitely keeping busy!

QOTW: I would like to get back to running more seriously and cooking and overall be more healthy this year. I also have some big career goals :) continue to work on my marriage and not let TTC consume us.

I'm also feeling more and more that if this isn't our year TTC-wise I may be done. MH and I have talked and if 12/31/15 rolls around and still no success we're going to pursue adoption. 3 years is enough for us. I've got to admit hitting the 2 year mark on New Years was tough.

  • Hey ladies,
Well I ovulated way early this month, thankfully I went to the RE for my monitoring on CD10 because they had me trigger that night for IUI on Dec.31!   DH had 64 million sperm after washing and the smile on his face cracked me up.  That's the most he's had for a treatment and he was pretty proud :-)  So we ended up having a really good New Year's Eve.  We drove to the RE's, did the IUI, then spent the day in the city eating good food, going shopping, and having a good time.

@KM380 Glad your appointment went well!  The circles crack me up for shots.   DH almost had a cow when he missed one by about an inch.  It ended up being totally fine.

@nikiswimr Glad the IUI went well!

He goes to his therapist tomorrow. DH should be bringing up his problem with finishing with his therapist and we will go from there. If he asks me to go I would. I think right now we are just getting the ball rolling.

Thursday I go in to my doctor to talk about getting my thyroid checked again. I have been getting more symptoms and well I am tired of being tired. Not even tired, exhausted all the time. It has been three years since I have gotten it looked at. I figure now is the time. I am really trying to focus on getting as healthy as I can be (Which won't happen if I am just fighting sleep all the time) and get routine back in my life.

Today is one of the days I feel the cards are stacked against us. My husband usually doesn't finish to begin with. His libido is pretty much nonexistent. Those two things means he is feeling a lot of anxiety. Which causes even more problems. I guess I pretty much feel TCC is on the back burner. Not by choice, it just is.

Sorry for the ramble. I am exhausted and close to my FW.

QOTW - What are your New Years resolutions if you made one?

We don't really do New Year Resolutions. I think we just don't like the words. lol
We make goals or lifestyle changes.
    - This year I am taking a break from crafting for other people, I will reevaluate this in June. Right now I want to do crafts for me. I have made everyone around me a scarf, but I haven't made one for me.
    - I want to get healthier. But to even start this goal  I have to find out why I am so exhausted.
    - I want to clean out the garage before next winter
    - Get into a daily routine of well everything.
    - Learn to use my sewing machine again

Oh hon. (((Hugs))) I'm sorry so much is stacking against you. I hope the therapy helps YH.
It's been 3 yrs since you had your thyroid checked? That's too long. I'm mobile so I'm not sure if you have a diagnosis. But you need to get it checked and if your numbers are within a normal range and you don't feel well you need to push to adjust the meds. There is also a different "normal" range for ttc. I'm hypo, if you have any questions pm me (though I'm no expert) Your thyroid can really mess with things. More (((hugs)))

  • Hi ladies! ((Hugs)) and love to all of you :)

It looks like we will be TTA for a little longer. We are going to put it back on the table in the spring. DH just isn't quite ready yet. And I'm okay with that. We've just had so much change over the last 6 months, between DH losing his job, the loss, and the big move. I think he just needs a few months of calm. And if I'm being honest, I probably need it too.

QOTW - Just trying to live a healthier lifestyle and making better decision when it comes to my eating habits.

  • Happy New Year to all of you lovely ladies.

@alm288- Your trip to Thailand sounds awesome! So exotic :) Glad you are feeling more optimistic. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

@Km380- Thanks, as always, for the check in. I'm glad to hear things are moving along with your treatments. I'm crossing my fingers for you! Sorry that insurance is being a pain— I find that's usually the case. I hate dealing with health insurance stuff.

@Menrandes- Your anniversary trip sounds neat. I hope you guys have decent weather. Make sure you dress warmly!

@linkloveszelda- I know the feeling about being back at work. Blech.

@nikiswimr- I've been thinking about you. I'm sure hitting the two year mark was hard, especially in light of what happened on NYE. I'm sorry :( That's cool, though, that you're planning that vacation to Vietnam/Thailand— it's nice to have a trip to look forward to. Wishing you luck with your talk at work. My sister-in-law is in final year of her medical residency and I know she has to give a talk/presentation this week too.

@king26- I'm glad to hear things are going well! Men are so funny sometimes (so proud of their swimmers). That's great that you had a fun NYE :)

@cavewmn- That's good that your husband is pursuing therapy. I hope that will help him. I'm sorry you've been feeling so run down and that things have been hard for you lately. I'll be thinking of you.

As for me, going back to work stinks, but that's life. It was nice to have a break even though I didn't really do much (it was a mix of snuggling with my dog, seeing movies, going out to dinner with friends, etc.). I'm working from home today because it's snowing here and the roads are shitty.

For those following my drama, AF showed up on NYE (lucky me), so I guess we'll see what happens this next cycle. I also got into a fight with one of my best friends on NYE over the fact that she thinks we ought to put things on hold with TTC this cycle so it won't conflict with my sister's wedding on Sept. 26 (if we get a BFP at the end of this month, I could be due around the beginning of October). The fight was spurred by the fact that I told her my sister asked me if we would consider putting TTC on hold. She and I didn't talk for two days, but when we finally did, she said she's sorry she hurt me and really just wants me to be happy. She admitted that since she's in a different place in her life (we're the same age, but she's getting married in June), she can't really relate to what I'm going through. She promised to be less pushy and said she'd try to listen more. I told her DH and I decided to just keep all things related to TTC to ourselves from now on, and she seems to respect that (my sister and my parents may prove to be a different story, but I'm not crossing that bridge yet).

Anyway, hopefully 2015 will prove to be a better year. Right now I'm looking forward to going to New Orleans with DH at the end of this month. It'll be nice to get away.

    Sorry for the novel, lol.

QOTW- I'm not really into resolutions either, but I guess I'm going to just to work on putting me first and trusting my instincts. Too often, I care too much about what other people think of me.

Your break sounds lovely. I'm struggling back at work too.
I really hope your fam eases up on you. Just remind yourself putting your life first isn't selfish, it's your life.
Can't wait to hear about your trip! I've never been.

    Update on DH appointment.

It isn't anything unexpected. He has another appointment next month and also one with a psychiatrist.

He is putting to much pressure on himself TTC and it means we have to back off. So as of today I am done temping. I guess we are NTNP now.

I am trying to put on a happy face and so on. But it does hurt deep down. Hopefully this is the first step into him getting help for his DE. Next time they will also look into switching his meds up so none of them have the potential to damage his sex drive.
(((Hugs))) hon. I know it hurts but in the long run I think this will be good. At the end of the day your marriage and the happiness of both of you is most important. This is a good first step for both of you. And we're all here for you

  • @cavewmn‌ I'm sorry that's understandably so tough for you, but I think you're doing the right thing for YH and your marriage. I hope the lack of stress helps him figure things out. ((Hugs))

@elsiemae14‌ I hope your time away from TTC helps you and YH get settled. That is a lot of change all at once!

@MellyMel15‌ you know I feel you definitely do what's right for you and YH TTC-wise and let the chips fall where they may.

  • Hi all, AF came just in time for New Years, which was a bit of a surprise since I had been attributing all my PMS to signs of pregnancy. I guess when you want it so badly it clouds your judgement. I will try to not make the same mistake again.

Resolution: make healthy choices (eat veggies, etc)

  • I'm with you, @23Tez23. I was pretty sure my PMS symptoms were pregnancy symptoms too. I even took two pregnancy tests (both were negative), since AF was a little late. It is amazing how much our bodies can trick us when we want something so badly! Boo :(

@cavewmn- I'm glad the therapy is helping your husband, but sorry you'll have to put seriously TTC on the back burner for awhile. In the long run, I'm sure it will be for the best. Hang in there.
