Hi Ladies,
I'm due with my first in May and am planning on breastfeeding. What resources do you recommend for preparing in advance to breastfeed? Or is it better to wait and use the hospital's resources once the baby is born? I'm unsure what I should do to prepare in advance and want to be prepared.
Thanks!
Re: Breastfeeding prep and resources
in general, i have found to be more helpful than any one book.
Kellymom- totally excellent reading on most every facet BFing, plus lots of links to more info
Dr. Jack Newman- a breastfeeding expert, addresses a lot of common questions/misconceptions about breastfeeding on his Facebook page. he also has a lot of articles and videos on his website.
the La Leche League Intl website has a lot of helpful articles
the Milk Meg- blog by a lactation consultant/mom that addresses many common questions/problems, plus offers lots of encouragement
LactMed and InfantRisk- great resources for researching the safety of drugs while breastfeeding
one book i did really like was Sweet Sleep: Nighttime and Naptime Strategies for the Breastfeeding Family. it came out when my DS was already a toddler, but it would've been great to have for help and reassurance with a newborn.
GL! don't forget you can always come back to this board to ask questions once baby is here.
