Sorry, for some reason my post only posted the first 2 sentences of my paragraph. LOL. So he is 2 wks old and very irritable and fussy....He seems to be in pain too. He will arch his back and get all stiff and cry angrily. He does fine as long as he is being held, but the second we put him down (more so at night) he wakes up and starts grunting in pain I think its more gas, but I wasn't sure if it could be an allergy too bc he is EBF and I do drink a decent amount of milk. I have been giving him simethicone drops and they help a little but not much. I just hate that he seems to be in pain. Just wondering if anyone has any advice or insight as to whats going on? TIA. (sorry for the vague initial post lol)
Oh and he doesn't have any other signs (blood in poop, throwing up, gagging etc.) The gassyness and irritability is the only thing. He nurses like a champ!
Oh and my other question that didn't post was, he has a dr appt in 2 wks, but should I call and try and get him in sooner to see what the problem could be? Or does this seem normal? I didn't have these issues with my first. I know babies get gas and I'm not eating anything that causes too much gas, but I hate that he doesn't feel good

I'm no expert, but this sounds like typical 2w old baby behavior. Their digestive systems are not fully developed. Gas drops helped DD, but the only thing that really fixed her up was time.
I'd vote reflux before milk allergy. We went through something similar w one of the twins. He had no happy awake time - he cried all the time. Couldn't be laid flat, even for a diaper change. Lots of screaming. Reflux meds made a world of difference.
It could be completely normal newborn behavior or it could be reflux.
Is your letdown forceful? I'd browse kellymom and refluxrebels for info.
Re: Milk allergy?
And this one talks about growth spurts: https://kellymom.com/bf/normal/growth-spurts/
My DS has a milk allergy and the signs were obvious - blood in poop, screaming in pain.
