Fun Stuff.. Nursery Theme/Colors?

I know that many people won't have any of this figured out yet.. but considering I was pregnant once not long ago I had already looked into a theme/color scheme. Post your nursery plans here!

During my last pregnancy, I decided that we wanted to do a woodland theme in green and brown.. then I stumbled across the MOST ADORABLE bedding set EVER! I waited to buy it, of course, and by the time I was about 9 weeks I decided I should just buy it.... HORRIBLE idea! It became discontinued and became absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to buy ANYWHERE.. I'm serious... I spent at least a week searching the internet with no hope.. I even emailed a lady on craigslist to purchase a used one (she lived on the opposite side of the USA)... needless to say, that didn't work out.... I was heartbroken.. None of the other sets lived up to my expectations..
image
Welll..... when I got my BFP, I immediately decided to start looking for bedding sets again, so that I wouldn't get screwed over the way I was last time... and GUESS FREAKING WHAT!!! I found that bedding set! Only 1 source sold it for the (normal) price of $150, 2 or 3 other sites upwards of $300 (due to it being a "hard to find item") You better believe I pulled out my wallet immediately! It's due to arrive in the next few days and I can't wait! This is what it looks like (the set I purchased on comes with a duvet cover, dust ruffle, diaper stacker and fitted sheet -- NO bumper (safety hazard!)) I also bought an adorable little accent pillow with the 2 deer on it that I can put on the rocking chair (pictured to the left of the lamp).. I will say, however that finding the accessories (such as a flipping adorable lamp and hamper) is nearly impossible.. but I can improvise..

Additional plans for the nursery:
Resin antlers for hanging stuff
green painted walls
chocolate brown carpet
"grass" crocheted rug
log pillows to place in the corner on the rug
moss covered rocks on shelving
apothecary jar terrarium
framed, pressed ferns
framed feathers
I have no idea what I'd do with this modern pinecone light
this 'picture'
this side table that my friend's husband is making for us (lumberjack)
and if we have a boy (FX), this decal WILL be on the wall!

Please share your ideas! I realize many of you will wait to find out what you are having, but since this will be our first baby and we hope to have more than one, I want all major items to be gender neutral.

  • I will be waiting until my second trimester to look at any nursery ideas because I'm paranoid BUT it has always been something I've thought about. Even with two of my best friends shopping for their babies I saw things I liked.
For a boy I like the boat/sailor/lighthouse look and for a girl I like very light whimsical pink/peach and cream colored and I've always wanted to put a liiiiittle chandelier
  • Once we know if we are having a boy or girl, we will probably come up with some sort of theme. I like doing colors rather than themes though, with my dd1's nursery I did lavender and soft colors, with little elephants. I'm thinking if we have another girl to do the grey chevron pattern with pink, even though I'm sure its super overdone, I think its pretty cute. If its a boy my husband would love to do a vintage superhero nursery.

  • No nursery decorating here. LO will sleep in my room for the first 6+ months. I'm trying to decide where to stick a dresser for his clothes.

  • I wanted to do a nautical theme with our first baby, but DH wanted everything pink. So I hope to do nautical this time.

  • @CFearsy, that is ADORABLE!

As for where baby is sleeping.. I have chosen to go to crib immediately. We bought an AngelCare monitor during our last pregnancy. I have done a lot of reading on going straight to crib/separate room, as well as have many friends that did it and had great success with it.

Now, I'm not saying I won't change my mind after the first few nights of waking up to feed, but if that happens, I plan on moving our twin sized bed into the nursery temporarily.

  • This baby will be sharing a room with my son, and he's got a superhero theme going on. If I have a girl this time, I'll add some wonderwoman and other super chicks. Since our room is downstairs, and the kids is up, the baby will be rooming in until I'm ready to sleep train at some point over a year old. I'm both sad and happy I don't have to plan a nursery this time around.

  • I'm not sure. I love the idea of a vintage Winnie the Pooh room, but I don't want my kid to outgrow the room too fast. I've pinned a couple of things but am not really going to look at anything seriously for awhile. I already have a crib and a rocking chair that my parents just gave me when they moved.
My friend that is due in May is doing a Winnie the Pooh theme (not so much on the Vintage side though) and she's having a horrible time finding any bedding sets to match... which is funny because only a few years ago there was Pooh everywhere!

  • My husband & I talked about this briefly. Our Master has an additional room like space attached to it which is just a sitting room now, we will turn that into a semi nursery.

I'll have the same theme no matter what. Some kind of space theme, moons and stars or planets maybe. Something along these lines but much more poorly executed..
Lol. This is how I feel about every cute baby idea I've ever wanted to copy from the internet. I love the space theme, though!

@cfearsy I love the elephants and the colors!

AFM I haven't thought too much about it because we don't know if we will still be living in our current house. If we stay where we are, new baby and DS are eventually going to share a room. If we move, I'm going to have to start doing some work on Pinterest because I'm drawing a total blank on neutral nursery themes!

    Edited b/c I just noticed I can't spell.

  • I decided I want to try and be team green. No theme but I am painting the room light grey, plan on white furniture with turquiose accents. Then I can add red green pink or whatever later. I have had this planned since I shortly after DD 1 came along lol. Her room is purple with dark furniture and white and turquiose accents.
  • We're planning to be Team Green, & the nursery is currently gray & white with pink accents.  Planning to just change the accent color & going with a plane theme either way.  I love this artwork (in different colors) for above the crib, either with "Oh, the place you'll go" or "The sky's the limit" as a quote.

  • I also fell in love with an out of stock bedroom set, but I got lucky and found a lady who was selling hers. it's called Gossamer Wings, and yes I do plan to use it regardless of baby's sex. purple is a neutral color, right? :p (but let's be real, the nursery decoration is for us, not them; and I like cute things. I also have a pink and black diaper bag. hubby questioned that one, but I told him it's not like baby's the one carrying it, it's just a big purse really!)

buuuuut baby will be using a co-sleeper in our room for the first few months, and our current house doesn't have a room for a nursery. I'm hoping to move before the baby gets here. but the first few months will be co-sleeper either way.

  • If it's a girl I haven't even thought of it . DDs room is pink and gray . If it's a boy I would defiantly love to do the nautical theme !

  • We only have two bedroom so baby will just have a little book in our room. Eventually LO will share with DS. His room is blue now so we'll have to change it up if we get a girl (but also I'm over the decor already).

    I love these beds.

  • I've looked into nursery ideas for a boy. I felt dd was a girl from the start and was right, and just "know" this is my boy. I'll be shocked if I'm wrong. Anyway, we really like this set. DD's room theme is owls and nature, we are getting her a full sized bed and found a bedding set that fits that so all her small decorations stay the same.

Crap. Where am I going to put all the clothes? Hadn't even thought about that. DS might have to have his wardrobe cut like in half, lol.
  • Im still debating whether to use my daughters convertible crib to its full usage for her (toddler bed-then twin, then full) or turn it over to the new baby and buy her this adorable cottage loft bed ( with a slide, yall, it has a freaking slide) that ive been drooling over for months. I guess whenever she decides to hop the crib will be the deciding factor ;)

I haven't gotten past a quick conversation about this with the hubs a couple of nights ago. We're both huge dorks (my username doesn't lie!) so we're leaning towards Super Mario Brothers, Marvel comics, or Miyazaki films (Ponyo or My Neighbor Totoro).

And although I want to know the gender, he doesn't... so we'll be team green!

  • I did a beautiful nursery for my first daughter who, at 16 months, has not even spent one night in it ;)  So, we won't be bothering with a nursery for this one.  We are just going to finally try to move my daughter into her room within the next couple of months.  I will miss having her sweet little body next to mine in the bed :(  But, hopefully I can get her night weaned so I can get some sleep!!

  • We don't have an extra room for a nursery right now so I can only dream about how I'd decorate (but that definitely isn't stopping me from pinning things to my secret board like crazy!). Likely this babe will only get a small corner. However, if we end up in a place with space for a nursery by September, I'm envisioning lots of grays and whites with accents of pink or blue.
