Breakfast for a new mom

My SIL is due with her first baby at the end of the month. I plan to bring dinner over for them when we visit but I also would like to bring breakfast. I remember having a really hard time eating breakfast when lo was a newborn and usually not eating until ten and shoveling it in my mouth.
Any ideas for breakfast that can be stored (either frozen or not) and ideally eaten with one hand? Also little to no prep work for her is ideal. I want this to be as easy as possible for her!
I'd prefer to make rather than buy it. Thanks!

Re: Breakfast for a new mom

  • Pre-made breakfast burrito?
Have it all ready so she just needs to throw it in the microwave for a few seconds. (Wrap in wax paper)

  • Loading the player...
  • Quiches freeze pretty well. I also received a banana bread loaf I kept in the freezer and would cut some for toast and throw some
Pb on it when I needed something quick. I also really appreciated muffins with fruit and morning glory muffins my MIL brought over.

I was going to suggest quiche also.
Like a burrito, add what she likes then cut into individual serving portions. She can hear what she needs.

And don't forget, breakfast is good any time of day (or night).

I also love banana bread or muffins.
  • I remember not being hungry for hours on end after the baby. Why my appetite returned I will never understand. Plus I would literally go all day without food until I remembered to eat. Man I can't go past 7am without something!

I like the muffin idea, they are good any time of day!

  • Special K meal bars or luna bars and a banana. No silverware required!
  • Thanks everyone. These are great ideas!
