2nd Trimester

Hey guys

Hey guys, I'm about 27 weeks along, so I'm in the last week of the second trimester. I've been having those Braxon contractions, I've been urinating a lot, and I already lost my mucus plug in a pink bloody show. I was wondering if I could be in prelabor, could I? My bloody show finished 5 days ago. It said that you are supposed to go into labor within a few days to a week after your bloody show. I'm scared that in 2 days I'll go into labor. I'm even more scared that it'll happen in school (I'm still in high school). I'm also too scared to even tell my parents, I haven't even told my doctor, and I know you guys will think that is a stupid way to go, but I have taken all the precautions. I haven't even told my siblings either.

Re: Hey guys

  • Have you been receiving prenatal care? You need to be seen by a doctor to check the health of you and your baby.

  • I didn't bleed for several days. If I talk to my doctor my parents could find out. I'm just scared. I know I need to talk to my doctor. I was going to but she changed to a different location. My parents had me put them down as the one's who can see my medical records, even though I'm 18, and I don't want them to.
  • Your parents are obviously going to find out one way or another. This isn't fair for your baby- I get you're scared, but you are 18, a legal adult, and need to be seen my a doctor like, yesterday. What are your plans for after baby arrives?
  • Youre 27 weeks, you wont be able to keep it a secret much longer any ways. You need to tell someone and get yourself some prenatal care. Atleast go to a planned parenthood or something along those lines. And I was wondering the same as janda, whats your plan once the baby comes?
  • Doctor-patient confidentiality is a seriously big deal. If you are an adult with full capacity then your doctor cannot tell your parents about your pregnancy without your explicit consent (and consent can be withdrawn at any stage - so you can change those privacy forms). You need to see a doctor ASAP - there are conditions such as placenta praevia which can be dangerous if not detected prior to labour. And I have to wonder what your plans are once the baby arrives - chances are your parents will find out then.
  • Also, doesn't loosing the mucus plug put you both in danger of infection? 18 is an adult, not a child - go see the doctor.
  • I am going to see the doctor. I'm going to set up an appointment for the vaginal check since I'm 18. I am planning to tell them after I talk to my doctor. My parents aren't abusive, we're just really good christians. The thing I'm scared of is that they'll be disappointed of me. I was planning of going sooner but my doctor changed her location. I have the address now, so now I can go.
  • Yeah I understand wanting privacy & not wanting to disappoint your parents. BUT-- this is going to be a HUGE bomb no matter when you do it.

  • I didn't find out until a little while ago.
  • you didn't find out what until a little while ago?
  • No, i didn't find out until a little bit ago. I'm going for my well woman exam on tuesday. I'll talk to my doctor then.
  • Have you not seen a doctor for 27 weeks? For the sake of your health and your unborn baby's health, please get yourself to the doctor ASAP! Your parents are going to find out sooner or later so delaying the inevitable is a moot point.
  • Being a mother is more than just the act of creating a baby. It is thinking of that baby (BY GETTING PRENATAL CARE) and thinking of others ahead of yourself. Scared? Sure - you are in fact acting more like a child despite technically being an adult but you have a responsibility to yourself, the father of the baby, your parents (as obviously this will affect their lives as well) and most of all - THAT CHILD. Get yourself whatever help you need. Christian or not, it is too late for that formality and if keeping the child is not an option for you for whatever reason, you need to look at viable options available to you at this point if the pregnancy is viable.

At your age - if you say to the doctor you do not wish your medical history divulged- it won't be.

Time to put on your big girl pants and take control of the situation.

  • Well, I'm 18, so I'm getting one. Is there something wrong with it?

You can't get a yearly exam if you're pregnant. Did you even tell the doctor you're pregnant?
Have you told ANYONE you're pregnant?

  • Did this OP change?

  • @innocentkaty‌ If you haven't been to a Dr for prenatal care yet and just found out you are pregnant, how do you know that you are only 27 weeks? If you had a bloody show, it could very well be that you are much further along. Or, quite possibly, you are not as far along as you think and the bloody mucus was something else entirely. You can't know unless you get an ultrasound and get evaluated by an obstetrician. Not all gynecologist are obstetricians. You should call their office and at least mention that you suspect pregnancy so they can set you up with the most appropriate provider to care for you. And as PP have mentioned, have a sit down talk with your parents and tell them. They deserve to know and sooner rather than later. Best of luck to you!

  • You're 18. If you don't feel mature enough to handle this, then tell your parents and GO TO THE DOCTOR. You have a helpless life inside you that you are responsible for.

GO TO THE DOCTOR. Seriously, stop reading and go call the doctor!
  • It's doubtful she is bothering to read the responses anymore. She posted in the third tri board asking how to delete a thread (presumably this one). What a shame that we seem to care more about her baby than she does.
