Play-Doh's Cake Mountain penis

So I read in one of my news feeds that Play Doh is going to pull the "Cake Mountain" play sets because one of the tools looks too much like a penis, according to a group of angry mothers.

I will post a pic next post down, but what do you all think of this? Are they the weird ones for seeing a penis and demanding it be pulled or is the Play Doh company the weird ones for making it too phallic looking in some people's eyes?

So if you saw this would you be up in arms about it?

I'd definitely be upset and take it away from my child. Inappropriate.

I would laugh and then not give it a second thought.

  • Loading the player...
  • I do hate play doh but if I saw this in the store I just wouldn't buy it. Crazy to me that this got through how many people at the manufacturer with no one saying "uh dude... That's a penis..."

  • I find it hilarious, but kids may not even realize what it is, or lets hope not lol.

  • Well it IS totally a penis, no denying that, but a child wouldn't probably connect that, so I would just laugh. But, DH probably wouldn't like it at all.

  • I personally wouldn't buy it but if my kid got it, I wouldn't take it away either.

  • @Pintobean39‌ wait why did they pull away little mermaid??

In regards to the penis toy I think this is so funny but I wouldn't make an angry complaint and make then get rid of it. I just wouldn't buy it.. I don't think kids that age would notice.
  • Play doh is banned from my house but I totally would have laughed and let them continue to play with the toy.

  • @Pintobean39‌ hahaha I would have never noticed that!! Definitely didn't when I was that age and had my little mermaid collection
  • I've seen it. It's inappropriate to adults but kids wouldn't get it. I would let them continue to play with the set.

I was in high school when it was released and I got that VHS and I had no clue. It wasn't until years later did I hear about it and my son had it in his room so I hid it because it's got a penis on the cover and I'm really a 12yr old boy.

    Fucking bump!!!!
  • I would laugh really hard and then not buy it because I'd be worried that my response at its inappropriateness would lead my kids to figure out it looks like a penis sooner than they would on their own. That's hilarious, though - thanks for the laugh!

  • No question that is phallic but I wouldn't take it away from my child. First of all even if a kid thought it looked like a penis (which he probably wouldn't), it's not like a penis is a bad thing. And no kid is going to make any kinkier associations because little kids don't think about that stuff! It did make me laugh, though. No question this was not "inadvertently" phallic.
  • I think it's hysterical. Without the spirals, it would look just like my icing/frosting/etc tool. Someone in R&D is having a good laugh right now. Or they are jobless. Either one! :joy:

  • Ok it's to much to paste but for a good laugh you have to read the reviews on amazon, you are guaranteed to pee on yourself from laughing so hard.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • I would have a hard time keeping a poker face while watching children work with this thing!
  • We almost got this for Christmas, my kids already have a similar one so the person giving the gift chose a different gift, I can say to a one the whole family would have laughed hysterically if my sweet little kids in their Christmas outfits had opened it and played with it at the kitchen table like they do when they get playdough.  I am a bit shocked the manufacturer did not pull it because it looks exactly like a penis to me and they must have known what some parents would be thinking. I doubt my kids or their cousins (ok, maybe the 12 year old boy would have) thought anything of it and I would not have taken it away.
  • We are a big time play doh household. I friggin love it too. DS is 3 so he wouldn't make the connection but I can see older kids doing so. Like pps, I just can't see how this got all the way through the production and marketing process. Lmao!

There was a random post about the play doh youtube videos...that's how it all started in our house. I had to go get some play doh so DS could play with it instead of just watch someone on youtube.

I could just sit there and smell that stuff all day.
  • This is really pretty funny to me! Totally looks like a penis, hubby thought so too. But like others said I don't think dd would think twice.. Just us grown ups lol.
  • I showed the picture to my MIL and she said, "That's a dildo."
