Cravings...

I know cravings have been covered before but here goes. Lately I've been having cravings but I don't know for what. I'm not hungry. I eat plenty throughout the day. I'm not overeating apparently because my weight gain is where it should be but I'll suddenly just want food. Nothing specific...just food. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense. I've had a long day and pregnancy brain for most of it but I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

Re: Cravings...

  • I crave chocolate. Basically all the time, including in my dreams. I have recurring dreams of being served enormous, decadent chocolate desserts. I pop awake craving chocolate covered graham crackers. I come home from work and make my husband order in dozens of (warm) delivery triple chocolate chunk cookies from Insomnia Cookies (thank god this exists in NYC).

I was not a big chocolate person before.

Therefore just generally craving food also makes sense to me.

  • @galnoir‌ DH said the same thing. Pregnancy has suddenly kicked my butt and my brain is all over the place. I was hoping someone would understand.
  • @LexiSophie55‌ THIS! So glad someone else is doing the same thing! It's driving me crazy! I made a delicious supper tonight but after I finished eating my craving just wasn't satisfied. I'm not hungry anymore but still craving SOMETHING! Ugh!
  • I open the refridgerator door all the time for no reason at all.  I just want something, and I never know what it is.  I usually settle for cereal, because its just amazing all the time.
This. I had one taco and a big ass bowl of cereal for dinner tonight.

I do this all the time!! Sometimes, I'll go to the grocery store, buy stuff that looks good and then I will go home to eat it... And well, I don't want to eat THAT anymore.

  • I do the same thing! I mostly crave drinks, I'm constantly dying of thirst. Right now I'm on a chocolate milk and kiddie cocktail binge.

Damn it. I was trying to stave off the cereal craving. I got on TB, and there it is. I'm headed for the kitchen. Froot loops or cinnamon toast crunch... that is the question.

I NEED Cinnamon Toast Crunch... Now! Damn expired milk and snow covered roads. I don't think the DH loves me enough for a 10 pm milk run!
  • I have that, banana nut Cheerios, two family sized boxes of honey comb and some vanilla almond Special K.

I take cereal very seriously around here!
  • Nothing to motivate me to cook like a pregnancy craving! Homemade mozzarella sticks and homemade ranch, YUM!
Also, now I want some cinnamon toast crunch (my all-time favorite!!).
  • I've had this issue for as long as I can remember, nothing to do with pregnancy. :-/.

The main thing I HAVE been craving though is chocolate too. I just spent over $300 on groceries this weekend, but still the only thing I'll really eat is leftover holiday chocolates. A few days ago I had this crazy craving/idea of fried chocolate covered pickles (sweet, salty, tart all in one) but my bf, who's a cook, said as a fellow human being he would never let anyone eat that concoction. I'm still determined to make it happen though!

I have been craving a lot of chocolate recently too! I think it must be from all the holiday goodies. I saw if the concoction is edible why not try it?
  • I kind of get what you're saying, but when i feel like that I always drink really cold water and it seems to help a bit.
  • All this cereal talk is making me hungry..

I really. really. REALLY wish they didnt discontinue french toast crunch.
The cereal that looks like pieces of toast? I remember eating it as a kid and ive been spending an unhealthy amount of time thinking about it lately. I NEED IT!
  • LOL.  This is great.

Friday night I needed cereal.  We didn't have any milk.  DH drove to the gas station (7 miles) for milk, but by the time he got home, I had made some jalapeno poppers and didn't want cereal anymore.  He also brought home ice cream bars...I didn't hesitate to take one of those down.

I don't remember it being this bad with my first either.

  • This was me in my last pregnancy. I remember going to the grocery store one day and leaving with 6 peaches and a gallon of milk.

I definitely know what I want when I'm craving something.  It's usually spicy food, anything with jalapenos or buffalo sauce/seasoning. I also have gone through phases where I NEED crispy chicken... nuggets, crispy chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, etc. Give me a buffalo crispy chicken sandwich with jalapenos and I will love you forever!

Last night I saw a can of toffee peanuts at the grocery store and I had to have them.  I walked by them 3 times before finally giving in. I mean, I don't want to spend the next 3 months thinking of the toffee peanuts that could have been.

ETA: I ate half the can in the car on the ride home.
