Here is my DD#3 birth story, better late than never!
I started losing my mucous plug on Tuesday night (12/23). DH freaked out and started cleaning.
Lost a lot more plug on Wednesday, and was having lots of strong BH. DH finished getting everything ready for the baby, down to washing windows and wiping baseboards, we finally found the newborn clothes and got them washed.
I think I had a few contractions overnight, and on Christmas morning was in denial for a few hours still pretending they were BH. I started realizing they were real late that morning. We had a nice time opening presents with the girls and finishing the hospital bag.
Contractions picked up in frequency and intensity all afternoon, I gave the midwife a heads up that something was happening, but contractions were still 10-20 minutes apart. We ate Christmas dinner with inlaws, I was timing contractions the whole time and breathing through them. They were more like 7-10 minutes apart and getting really intense.
All of a sudden, they were at 3-4 minutes apart. I had to go to the bathroom and could barely get out of the house and into the car. We RACED to the hospital, I was swearing through contractions at least every 2.5-3 minutes and could feel the pressure to push halfway there. I did a few tiny pushes just to deal with it, my water broke in the car.
DH parked outside of emergency and grabbed me a wheelchair. The security guard watched our car (still running, hospital bag inside!). DH raced me up to L&D, they started calmly asking questions until 10 seconds later when a contraction hit - they ran me into a birthing room and stripped me down. Did a check, baby's head was on the way down. I had to push right away but tried to slow it down to reduce tearing; she was born less than 10 minutes after arriving!
She is perfect! She actually stays awake to eat which has meant that my milk came in much more easily (however my nipples are about to fall off). Recovery is going pretty well.
Good luck for everyone still waiting!
