As I've mentioned in the past, DS fortunately doesnt get sick very often, but he did come down with a nasty virus back in May last year, resulting in temps up to 104* and a febrile seizure. Scariest fucking thing I've ever had to witness in my life.
Welp...He's down with some nasty virus again (ruled out ear infection, strep, etc at pedi this morning), and his temp has been intermittently spiking up to 102-102.7 almost 103 since last night...although we've been mostly able to bring it back down/ keep it at bay by alternating tylenol & motrin. But it still tends to spike again before I'm able to give the next dose of meds, which makes my anxiety insane.
I'm not totally sure what I'm looking for here....maybe some commiseration? Advice from others who've dealt with febrile seizures in the past or even wicked high fevers? This shit is fucking scary. He acts fine when the meds are working, but as soon as his temp comes back up, He's like a wet dish rag and I'm terrified of another febrile seizure happening.

Re: Can we talk about fevers/febrile seizures?
He doesn't get sick often but he has had fevers over 104 since then but no more seizures. My friends son is also the same age and he had one shortly after Connor did and also has never has one again.
Speaking as a nurse, 102 to 103 is not harmful and fever actually helps to cook the illness out. You probably would want to consult the doctor again if it lasts for more than 3 days or gets much over 104. I know the worry of another seizure is scary but febrile seizures are typically harmless. Just make sure you keep an eye on him so that if he does have a seizure, he doesn't hurt himself (fall and hit his head etc).
@Mags748 thanks for sharing your experience both as a mom and a nurse. It helps to hear. Its also comforting to hear that even though your son had one previously he hasnt had one since....I'm praying thats the case with us as well!
