Monitor Question

Hoping someone can help us here.  We have a large house (3000 sq ft) and our master bedroom is all the way on one end of the house, and the kids' bedrooms are on the other side.  It is also kind of a weird layout and not a straight shot down a hall.  We need a monitor with 2 cameras, one for each kid room.  We are having a hard time finding one that offers adequate range, I guess due to the size and layout of the house.  We have tried Motorola and summer infant and with both we are having issues of "out of range" or "lost signal".  I know that others have mentioned using a camera that then connects to your phone, can someone explain to me how that works? And what do you do at night, just leave the phone app open all night so you can keep an eye on them and hear anything that happens all night?  Does anyone think this might work better for us than the traditional monitor?

I have a lavana brand monitor I bought from Costco online. I have two acres and can walk around my property without loosing signal. It came with two cameras. I paid about $125 from it and have no complaints at al.
Thank you, I might try that one then.

  • We use Drop Cam for when we want to go outside the house (like yard work during naps). You turn the camera on in the app & it provides constant noise playback but then just alerts us via text when motion is detected (so the video is not always on) so you can view the video playback only when you need it. You can set up multiple cameras and configure them differently. I like it! One time I was out with friends and DH put LO to bed and I watched them for a lil bit from across town (not spying but just cause I missed them! :-D)
