Re: ***Weight Loss Check In***

  • So I've been putting $1 in a jar every day that I workout. I just counted today and it's been over 3 weeks since I started working out every day! I started with only 20 minutes a day and now I'm up to 1 1/2 without much fatigue. I just started a food diary too so I hope I can keep this up. I also read that timing a minute in between bites is good for portion control and digestion. I'm pulling out all the stops since the city-wide challenge starts tomorrow. I'm so excited to see the results.

Q: Violin and piano. Classical music inspired the piano. Vanessa Mae inspired the violin (though she plays electric violin).

So I bought my wedding dress:

    image
Instead of the black sash I'm going to buy a fancy crystal one to add some bling. It is simple, pretty and hides my huge ass hips (no that is not a picture of me LOL).

So when I took my measurements for that OTHER shitty dress it looked like I was in the 14 zone due to my large ass hips I suppose. So when the girl at David's Bridal asked what size I said 14 and holy shit to my surprise it was WAY too big, even the 12 was too big, but the 10 was a bit too small, so I decided to go with the 12 and get it altered instead of squeezing into the 10. I'm SHOCKED I could even zip up the 10. I read that David's Bridal dresses can be on the small and large side, but I'm sticking with my "I'm thrilled I almost bought a 10 moment."

I still plan on getting my ass on my bike for 60-90 minutes 4x a week and eating as cleanly as possible. I also downloaded the 7 minute workout APP and will try to do that 3 x a week. The fiance and I are not drinking until the wedding so that should help as well.

I used to box and I injured my arm about three years ago.....I never went to the doctor for it because I thought I just pulled a muscle, but it has really been bothering me lately. I think I might actually go to the doctor to make sure nothing too crazy is going on in my muscle. I hope I didn't tear it and have been going around with a torn muscle/ligament for the past 3 years..but wouldn't that hurt like hell?

So anyways, I'll check back later to see how everyone is doing....good luck this week!

EDITED to add QOTW: I used to play the guitar when I was a teenager. I was actually pretty damn good and wrote some songs with one of my BFF's in high school. I recently started playing again and even got my guitar a tune up this past weekend. I would love to be amazing at the guitar, but I'm just OK. Hopefully I don't give up on it too fast like I do most hobbies. I recently unearthed a journal I kept from 1994-1999 and apparently I was OBSESSED with Nirvana and Kurt Cobain and I wrote entry after entry about playing my guitar and listening to Nirvana so Kurt was very inspirational in regards to my guitar playing.

  • I am down 3.3lbs this week. Yesterday at the gym was a big weight session and shoulders are feeling it today. And I've signed up to my office's weightloss challenge for the year.

My biggest challenge is getting back into the correct portion size mindframe. As long as DP is away I do OK, but when he's home I tend to eat a lot more.

QOTW- I'd love to be able to play any instrument well really. I can pick my way along a piano and keyboard but only just. Maybe guitar since it's something I've wanted to try but never got around to.

  • @rainbowbridge14‌, yes! DH and I are going to drive to Seattle and go to a five star, formal attire only restaurant. I'm also saving my clothing allowance to buy a designer dress for the event. DH is going to rent a formal suit. We are going to go for our anniversary next year.

  • Ugh I gained 3lbs over the holidays. I need to get myself back on track. Seriously considering going back to weight watchers. @Tiko99‌ your dress is BEAUTIFUL. Love it! QOTW I would love to play the guitar. I do play the piano and know how to read sheet music, I just never picked up the guitar. Maybe someday.

I feel like I am a part of so many check-ins, but I guess I just really fit in a lot of places.
Currently, I have lost 26 pounds since September 2013. I only gained 1 pound over holiday break, I was so freaking shocked....definitely a victory since I was eating Red Velvet Cake, like they were going to ban it in 2015.

    1. What are your weight loss goals?
I don't really have a goal, but just want to see how far I can push myself. I originally wanted to fit back into my size 8 jeans, but I did that a couple of weeks ago. So I'm just pushing my body now.

    2. What are you doing to loss weight?
I have really cut back on the sugars. I allow myself one soda a week,  I was a soda junkie. I am also logging everything I put into my mouth of My Fitness Pal. I am also getting weekly B12/fat burner shots. I am also walking 10 miles a week.

    3. Any tips, recipes or workout information would be great.
No real tips, this is the first time I am trying a lifestyle change rather than Fad diets.

QOTW: If you could play any instrument in the world, what would it be? Did any particular artist inspire this choice?

I would love to play the harp. It seems so soothing and I don't think people would even recognize if you messed up.

DH DX: MFI - low morphology, low motility
Ultrasound shows both kidneys in spite of UU.
HSG showed clear tube on the left side.
Lap Surgery performed 1/9/14 to remove fibroid and endo (Stage 3)

  • Hi everyone!!! It has been SUCH a long time since I've participated here that I probably need to recap my goals. I fell off the wagon for a while after our Diet Bet a couple months ago and need to get back to it.

    1. What are your weight loss goals?
I would love to lose 10lbs to hit my all time ideal weight. But more important than that, I want to TONE - specifically these saddlebag thighs and firm my booty. Arms could use some tone too.
    2. What are you doing to lose weight?
I just signed up for my 2nd Diet Bet! I was successful with the one Ginny put together a couple months ago and it was a great motivator so I put down $30 that I would lose 4% in 4 weeks - looking at about 5.2lbs. My office building also just put in a gym and I just registered yesterday. I'm going to do at least 3 days a week of 30min workouts on my lunch break.
    3. Any tips, recipes or workout information would be great.
None yet, but I'll share if I find a good one  :)

QOTW: If you could play any instrument in the world, what would it be? Did any particular artist inspire this choice?

This may be a cheat answer because I already play a little, but I want to be able to play the piano like a pro. If I really, really studied it again maybe I could get it back. No one artist inspires this but I've always loved the piano.

    Me: 28  MH:35

Married September 2012. TTC since September 2013

June 2014 - Dx w/ significant PCOS and referred to RE.

July/August 2014 - Testing complete: Testosterone & AMH very high, FSH slightly high, Vitamin D low, tubes and lining all lovely. DH SA: A+

    Cycle 1 (Nov 2014): 2.5 mg Letrozole/Ovidrel/TI = BFN

    Cycle 2 (Dec 2014): 5 mg Letrozole/Ovidrel/TI - BFN

    Cycle 3 (Jan 2015): 5mg Letrozole/Ovidrel/TI - BFN

    WTF consult scheduled for 1/29

  • This is my first check in but, I just bought a new fitbit! This is my second one but now my mom has one too and we are challenging each other ( hate to admit she's whooping my butt) she's really hardcore about her zumba. But I'm down 11.5lbs in two weeks so there is definitely a plus.
    1. What are your weight loss goals?
My goal is 160lbs which seems heavy but, I'm also 5'9

    2. What are you doing to loss weight?
Using Fitbit. Its all about balancing your calories, setting goals, challenging your friends, and being well rounded.

    3. Any tips, recipes or workout information would be great.
I'm slowly falling in love with Zumba! Other than that I have cut out all preprocessed food. We have a great famers market that makes it easy. Lots of white meat less red meat and balance your starches! Punishing yourself with cants and no's will lead to a hard path :)
  • Congrats on no soda, ladies! That's a huge step for your health. I can't remember the last time I had soda. Some good news: at some point, you'll have been so long without it that it doesn't interest you anymore. The spell will be broken, so to speak.

  • @theholmanherd good idea with the money jar! I never have cash on me, but I'm thinking about starting a savings account just for this reason.....YAY for exercise for money!
@rainbowbridge14 I went to the gym today and ran for 20 minutes....which was about 1.7 miles (not a lot), but I was thinking of you while I was running!
@lindy04aggieawesome on the 100 days without coke.
@RufflesaurusRex I hear ya on the portion control. It is very hard for me to follow through with portion control when it comes to carbs!
@chealsyl I'm 5'10 and my goal is 160 too! Yay to tall girls!
@kensie5226 I also use myfitnesspal and I think it is so helpful when I'm craving something bad....I look and see the calories/sugar/fat and either decide to do more cardio so I can burn the food (usually cookies) off, or I just skip the cookies and silently cry to myself.

  • Hi ladies!! I'm going to join in here as I need to start holding myself more accountable. I tend to stress/emotional eat, so you can imagine that I've gained some weight in the past few months.

    1. Weight loss goal is 15 pounds. That will put me in normal weight for my height. I'm getting dangerously close to the heaviest I've ever been and it's makes me sad.

    2. Planning to do Weightwatchers as I need the accountability. I plan to also try to talk MH into signing up for a gym with me. We need to get active. We send way too much time vegging on the couch.

    3. No tips right now! We've been doing organic for a while and I sort of fell off the wagon with cheating snacks and stuff. I plan to get back to doing strictly that which really helps me manage cravings as I don't keep the bad stuff in the house.

QOTW: I'd like to be able to play the piano better. I can read music and play very poorly. I've just never been able to master doing two different things with my hands. I'm even a weird typer. I use two fingers and my thumb, but I'm surprisingly fast.

  • Hey guys! Now that I have a TTC plan I am going to try to be more active on the boards, and I would like to join this check in again. :-)

    1. I would like to lose 15-20 pounds.
    2. I just started on Metformin to treat PCOS so I am going to have to make some significant diet changes to go along with that as well, so that will be an adjustment. I have a gym membership, so I need to start using that too. I have had a head cold for 2 weeks now, so have not been motivated to work out, but I need to just buck up and start.  I log my food in My Fitness Pal, and bought the new fitbit HR monitor which should be coming in 6-8 weeks so I am looking forward to that! Otherwise I plan to start meal planning and cooking more.
    3. The only tip that I have is the skinnytaste.com website - I LOVE all of her recipes. It is healthy stuff that doesn't give up on flavor.
